GamePro takes a look back at WonderCon 2009's booths, toys, and huge crowds of costumed nerds with a collection of pictures and some afterthoughts.
WonderCon 2009, the San Francisco sister convention to Comic-Con, is always big on everything that has to do with comics, figurines, and hot video games. GamePro's intrepid editorial crew braved long lines and sweaty masses of cosplayers to see the sights up close, and we're back with pictures! By far, the best things to see at the convention were anything and everything Capcom... unless you got a picture with Adam West or Adam Baldwin.
Seriously, call us if you got a lock of Adam Baldwin's hair. He must be cloned. He is humanity's only hope.
Welcome to WonderCon! Pay no mind to Jarvis over there. He's actually been off-duty since 2003.
The crowd was pretty thick early on Friday...
And believe it or not, this was considered light traffic for the convention.
"I'm sorry, son, but no Naruto fanboys are allowed this year without a permit -- we're going to have to escort you off the convention grounds."
Somewhere in here, there's a hellishly long line to see Mark Hamill, voice of the Joker (he's also doing Batman: Arkham Asylum), and the face of Star Wars legend Luke Skywalker.
If you had a favorite 80's TV show or cartoon, you could definitely spot it on the Great Wall of Geek Ware.
We're betting this Cobra couple read our G.I. Joe issue of GamePro -- didn't YOU?
The faltering economy takes a toll on our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, as he takes an extra job freelancing for local TV.
A fan plays Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G on PlayStation Portable. This game is BIG in Japan. It's actually replaced the Yen as their main form of currency.
Speaking of which, the honors for 'Biggest Freaking Booth' undoubtedly went to Capcom. Not only could gamers play Street Fighter IV and other Capcom titles, but the store was brimming with collectibles. We spent a lot of money here.

Ugh -- why does this Ryu action figure look so constipated?

Awesome that Monster Hunter is getting a little love here in the US. Nothing like teaming up with a bunch of friends, beating a Rathalos to death, and carving his crimson hide for parts to make items and armors. We need a Monster Hunting revolution! Turn off your WOW and play some MH! or not... Hammers 4 life!

WHAT?! No ugly chubby nerd girls in semi revealing outfits? I thought that was the only thing you losers took pictures of at conventions.

Ah, those R-rated pictures aren't safe for work or GamePro (and I'm keeping them all to myself).

Every time I was smashed against a big, sweaty kid in an anime shirt, I prayed for rain, only to have my prayers denied by a cruel god.
