EA, NASCAR crash and burn

It looks like NASCAR Kart Racing for the Nintendo Wii may be the only NASCAR game releasing this year.

According to an ESPN report, sources inside EA Sports claim there will not be a NASCAR '10 title for any of the major consoles and that with EA's NASCAR license expiring in 2010, we may have seen the last NASCAR game by the publishing giant.
An EA spokesperson told ESPN, "We are continuing our conversations with NASCAR, but nothing has been announced regarding the license or future projects and we don't have any further announcements at this time."
In my experience, which I must admit is limited, EA's NASCAR franchise has only gotten better and more realistic over the years. Despite the successful relationship, it looks as those this franchise is now a broken home, but which company is filing for divorce?
Regardless, it looks like all those NASCAR fans, where ever they are, are going to have to wet their appetite with another racing game while NASCAR hits the dating scene to find a new publisher.

I used to be a nascar fan back when it was Winston cup..b4 they pussified it ;/..goin to an actual race..is waaaaay better then watchin it on tv..least it used to be..idk now.

Nascar games started to feel stale to me right around the time 360 hit the market. I can't say I've played a Nascar game since then. I was never really a fan of the actual racing, I just like the games. Now MotoGp on the other hand, I love the racing but feel that the games have never lived up to the real deal.

NASCAR is shit. No clue whose idea it was to make a game out of it in the first place. F1, now there's a race.

Nascar was way better when it was a PC sim published by Sierra , so maybe they can pick the franchise back up and make it a good game once again. EA made the format stale by making it more of a weird mesh of crazy ideas that never really felt right.

Nascar was made stale by EA; Sierra made the best Nascar game. EA took a good thing and pissed it away by trying to make it more interactive and it never really felt right, it doesn't really matter now any way Nascar is a shell of it's former self; now it's like watching a silly four hour commercial. After dale Earnhardts death Nascar became a festival of whiners and commercial sales people.
