StarCraft II is in "final stretch"

StarCraft II's lead developer sheds some light on the current state of the PC RTS sequel. He also notes that the beta will happen in 2009 "unless something crazy happens."

Blizzard's eagerly-anticipated sci-fi RTS video game sequel, StarCraft II, is "in the final stretch" says the game's lead developer Dustin Browder. The original StarCraft remains one of the best selling PC games of all time, racking up over nine million copies sold.

In a Q&A on BlizzBlues, Browder notes that in addition to StarCraft II being in the final stretch of its development, he is confident the beta for the sequel is going to happen in 2009.

Solo campaign is under heavy construction as is Battlenet. When these things have enough work done that we know when our release date is going to be with strong confidence we will announce the Beta. Unless something crazy happens, the Beta is going to happen this year. -Dustin Browder

this is MY most anticipated game of the year. I don't give a funk what anyone says.

how could you reply and take the time to write about something and not care? You cared enough to show your hating on it? That is caring even if it is negative. I don't care is. Keeping quite on a matter. Maybe you are annoyed?

StarCraft was a great game and I can't wait to play it. I loved War 3 for the Hero characters but thought they were over powered. I played very little StarCraft 1 multiplayer. I will enjoy the story the most.
