PlayStation Home developers top two dozen

What's Sony's PlayStation Home need to really spool up the engines and take off? Content, for starters, which is what they're hoping two dozen licensed publishers and developers can eventually whip up.

Home needs more furnishings

PC WORLD -- The list of 24, scraped off a slide revealed by Watch Impress, includes a mix of well and lesser known U.S. and Japanese companies.

Capcom and EA have already been chatting up content for the still-beta service. EA's planning a "sports complex" designed to appeal to "both casual and hardcore gamer, while Capcom just announced plans to deliver promotional material, like a Resident Evil 5 themed area and a Chris Redfield costume for avatars.

Here's the full list:

Acquire
Activision
AQ Interactive Atlus
Capcom
D3 Publisher
Disney Interactive
EA
Game Republic
Genki
Gungho
Hudson
Irem
Koei
Konami
Namco Bandai
Nippon Ichi
Paon
Q Entertainment
Sega
SNK Playmore
Spike
Tecmo
Ubisoft

Sony still hasn't sold me on the PlayStation Home notion that trotting through a virtual mall trumps drilling directly on content. That, and the product tie-ins sound a little corny. Does anyone want to dress like Chris Redfield? Can any but the hardest of hardcore Resident Evil fans even visualize what that means?

Now how about a Resident Evil 5 themed area instead, and a zombie-chopping mini-game like the one in Saints Row 2.

Damn right, I'm glad companies are in discussion and have plans to do something for Home because as of right now it sucks BigOlBallz

PS Home was one of the reasons I wanted a PS3...but I have come to find out that it is really slow, tedious, boring and lacking. I don't know what I was thinking. But I absolutely love the PS3 besides that.

Home sucks. A great way for developers to advertise but no fun for a "gamer."

I've been in the Home beta since October and I still haven't enjoyed it. The idea is cool, but I'm not a big fan of social networks. Hopefully devs can put some flavor into Home.

Home is pointless, might be fun for playing chess if the board wasn't always busy....My favorite part is they want me to pay $00.50 for a new shirt or $2 for a house, why?

I'll start using Home again once Sony makes the Home experience seamless with the XMB instead of having to wait through long loading screens for everything.

I'm still waiting for those 'trophy rooms', where you would supposedly be able to actually take a video of you getting the trophy and posting it on the wall.

Or how about making Home's features available in the XMB instead of JUST inside Home?

They just need to start over w/ this thing .Add arcade games I actually want, or put a HELL of a lot more of them (who likes waiting in lines?)

Add events, such as live E3 streaming or soem way for gamers to contact developers through Home; more Home-specific minigames that involve your avatar: SOMETHING!

Once Sony figures out what they want Home to be, I'll use it. Till then, I just can't bring myself to like it. There's just no point to it right now.

I agree that Home gets boring after a while. I had a lot of fun creating my guy and exploring everything at first. Unfortunately, there isn't much to explore lol. There needs to be more stuff to do.

But you have to realize that it's new and will continue to grow. not to mention it's free.

I think dressing like Chris Redfield would be cool! Bring on the costume!

The main thing to realize is that Home is still in its beta-testing stage. I,for one, will be patient for the things to come in Home because if you look at what Home really is then there's not many ways to become bored with it. Alot of you make great observations though,on things that would help to make Home better, but why not share that info with Sony so something like that can one day be real? (Unless you've already done it,to which I'll shut my mouth now lol)
