Dead Space Wii coming soon

EA's gore-drenched sci-fi shooter Dead Space has just been announced for the Nintendo Wii.

Shacknews reports that Electronic Arts' hyper-grisly horror shooter Dead Space has just been confirmed to be coming to the Nintendo Wii. EA CEO John Riccitiello made the announcement about the Wii edition of Dead Space to investors yesterday. Dead Space was previously released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC last October, a few weeks prior to Halloween.

Dead Space Wii coming soon

Anyone who's played Dead Space will tell you that it certainly doesn't hold back on the blood 'n guts. This game is filled with gooey entrails squirtin all over the place.

During the conference call to investors, the CEO mentioned that Dead Space Wii will retain all of the gruesome scares of the existing versions.

Riccitiello didn't elaborate on any further details about the new Dead Space game, so at this time it's unclear whether this will be an enhanced edition with extra modes, bonus features, and different controls that take advantage of the Wii's motion sensing technology like Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (which is strikingly similar to Dead Space in its controls, camera, and atmosphere) or if it'll be a straight port.

Based on other games that have been ported to the Wii like Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and the upcoming Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, chances are that at the very least motion controls specific to the Wii version will be added.

It should be noted that the company has also just announced that EA's big focus in 2009 will be on Nintendo's console, as a significant chunk of EA's 2009 lineup will be headed to the Wii.

Dead Space Wii coming soon

We don't even know what the hell's going on in this screen. We just know it's nasty... in a good way though. (CLICK HERE for more HD screens of Dead Space in action!)

You can read the original Dead Space Wii story on Shacknews here.

THE VERDICT by Patrick Shaw Patrick Shaw's Avatar I say, throw in a bonus mode where you can make a custom deathmatch against enemies, setting up which foes you want to fight, and how many. Add 2-player co-op for this mode and that'd be insane.

Dead Space, Dead Rising, RE4 , RE5 on the Wii is easy to make. Just add water! Water down the graphics, water down emeny count and water down the gore! Add motion control and you have a million seller on your hands. I guess thats good for wii owners.

I wonder if the whole "shifting focus to the Wii" thing has something to do with Mass Effect going multiplatform?

This is great news for Wii owners. Dead Space would work extremely well on the RE 4 engine. Hopefully this game gets some exclusives.

ya its gonna be a good thing. i dont have an xbox or ps3(yet) i have a wii so ill finally be able to play this

Hopefully this isn't simply a port and more of a remake of the game, or a brand new Dead Space game altogether.. it would be painful going from the great looking PS3/360 versions down to the Wii.. but maybe if they make good use of the strength of the platform (the motion controls) we could have a decent game. Either way it's good to see EA giving the support the Wii both needs and deserves.

People forget that RE4 was originally released solely on the GameCube before it was ported to other consoles. Apparently Nintendo is doing this next generation of gaming completely backwards from how they handled the GameCube. That is a good thing.

Donkey come on, EA , Capcom, etc, throw a f*cking bone to the Wii and you all get excited. It's easy money, why pass it up. They could have a team of monkeys working on Dead Space for the wii and it would sell. Except for a handful of games so far, there is nothing good on the wii. Nintendo got is certifiable million sellers like Zelda and Marios, which is a good thing but thats about it. If you are satisfied with your inferior ports with motion control, thats good for you, you wil be getting alot of them in the near future. Easy money!

C'mon AANTHUNDER think for a second, most of the Wii's software sales are from casual gamers and parents buying for their children, Dead Space is a hardcore game, no casual gamer will care about this game, and its also M rated so no parent wont buy it either, It will only be appealing to the hardcore and EA is not stupid enough to half-ass this game knowing that the hardcore actually pay attention to critical response. I might not like EA very much but if there is anything they aren't is stupid.

Dead Space with next-gen controls? Good news, indeed.

On a side note, I finished Metroid Prime 3 awhile back on the Wii and and now I'm playing Bioshock on my PS3. God, going back to playing with analog sticks on a FPS is just absolutely horrible.
