Punch-Out, Wii Sports Resort due first half of 09

Nintendo has announced release dates for many of their most anticpated games for both the DS and Wii. Check them out here!

Many reputable news sites, including Kotaku and Joystiq, are reporting that Nintendo has announced the release dates for most of their biggest currently known projects, most of which should be landing on US shores within the first half of the year. In particular, Punch-Out and Wii Sports Resort should be available before mid-year, if the reports are correct.

Other major US releases include the March debut of the GameCube-turned-Wii "New Play Control" series. Both Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis will be revamped with Wii control schemes and should be re-released in a matter of weeks and we've heard there will be a svelte $30 price tag for each.

On the DS side, the long-awaited US release for the Nintendo DSi will be during the nebulous Spring-Summer time period. Before then, thankfully, we will have new Pokemon and Fire Emblem games for the best-selling portable.

Say what you will about how crappy the second half of 08 was for Nintendo, but that's a pretty good selection of games to get before E3 this year. Punch-Out, Wii Motion Plus, and (sorta new) Pikmin? Can't complain about that. Now we wait for the Mario-Zelda-Kid Icarus announcement...

Nice. I had no idea Metroid Prime and Echoes were getting released for the Wii. Hopefully the motion controls were work better than the recent release of Mario Power Tennis (Japan, reviewed by X-Play).

I wish it was a new Tennis game instead of a GC remake... but for 30$ it's a pretty good deal, I guess.

Sadly right now that is in Japan, hopefully the bring it stateside, because I will sure as hell pick those titles up

cant wait for the metroid prime games on the wii, i have the first but not the second, i really don't wanna play the first one on the gamecube cus it'll be hard for me to switch my controls from the wii-mote and nunchuck to the GC controller.

I'm also siked for the punch-out game, looks like wii sports boxing except WAY better, wii sports resort looks AMAZING but there is no specific release date so...

the pokemon platinum looks pretty cool, it's just I'm not a huge fan of the series, just a minor.

It's crazy how popular the sin and punishment game is on the virtual console, I played it and it is AWESOME so I'm glad they are comin out with another game.

the DSi is going to knock my socks off FOR SURE!!!!! I only have the first DS and not the DS lite so i'm definetly buying this one, I need a update!

and i'm also siked about the conduit and madworld!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice selection of 3 new games and 2 GC games to cashing on. S&P2 is looking good though.
