Sony posts huge $2.9 billion loss, responds with new PSP 'carnival' colors

Maybe they should have stuck with the boomerang?

What's the best way to recover after a $2.9 billion annual operating loss? Sony says: introduce new PSP colors!

The PSP-3000 is receiving a carnival makeover in Japan with the introduction of four new retina-melting colors: Radiant Red, Vibrant Blue, Bright Yellow and Spirited Green. The PSP hardware specs remain the same, and the ?24,800 ($279) bundle includes a 4GB MemoryStick, a pouch and a hand strap.

These new colors hit the Tokyo streets in March. No word yet on whether these colors will make it over to North America, or if we'll be left out of the party.

It does cost money to introduce those new colors right? I'm sure it would cost quite more if they did the same thing with the PS3!

We probably wont be getting them. It probably wouldn't make much of a difference anyway. The PSP has done better in Japan than over here

I like the metallic blue psp but I have the Madden edition so , no need to get a color psp.

I doubt they would bring them here. Japan always gets the good exclusive stuff while we are left out in the cold. What they should do is at least offer them at the Sony Store. Like how their are somethings that can only be purchased at the Nintendo Store. But at the same time Nintendo only has 1 Nintendo store here in the U.S.A. and I believe it's in New York while Sony has more Sony stores.

New colors Sony?! How about some games instead!! However, the yellow looks dope!

Pulling a page from Nintendo's book on selling oodles of handhelds; not sure if it will have the same effect since there seems to be two different audiences for the PSP and DS, and the PSP crowd doesn't seem to be the type to go for another handheld because it's a nice bright colour.

F the colors... make GAMES for it. DS gets a boost in sales when they offer new colors, but that's because it has tons of great games. Get a clue Sony!

On a more positive note, those new colors look great... much better than that horrid copper color they had last time.

Changing the color? That's not going to help sony, they need to be focusing on making good games instead of focusing on the color of the psp. That's just ass backwards!
