Capcom explains lack of camera in Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop for the Wii is not ready for its close-up, Mr. DeVille. Why? Because there's no camera, that's why.

Capcom explains yet another Dead Rising

You can't touch this. Literally.

The premise of Dead Rising is that Frank West, a photojournalist, heads into a zombie-infested hellhole to take pictures of the goings-on inside. Zombie battling does ensue, but also zombie photography. For some reason, this major plot element was revealed to be cut from the Wii version of Dead Rising earlier this week. Why cut something that's... you know, what the game is basically about?

Capcom's Minoru Nakai, director and producer of Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop, finally got the chance to give fans an answer in the latest episode of Capcom's official podcast, Top Secret. Here's what he had to say:

This is a very different game, gameplay-wise than the 360 version of Dead Rising. Another reason is the fact that the camera is quite different. In this version, the camera is very similar to what the players are used to in Resident Evil 4 - an over-the-shoulder camera that stays fairly tight behind Frank... [Photographing zombies] doesn't work so well with the tighter camera we have in Dead Rising Wii.

So basically: no photography for you, because the real point of this game is to see if we can squeeze another hit out of the RE4 Wii engine.

Yep! Slim pickings on the Wii.

Who the hell wants to take pictures when you can blow their F'n head off anyway! Either way, I'm gonna pass on this one. Too many good games coming soon (not necessarily on Wii).

Who fricken cares? The 14 year old 'hardcore' gamers, that's who.

I think he's being modest and trying to deflect the limitations of the Wii, IMO.

This seems to be a trend with the Wii. They have been releasing old gamecube games like pikmin and mario tennis with new controls, rather then making brand new games
