The team behind Skate faces huge layoffs the day before Skate 2 hits store shelves.
A majority of the staff making up Canadian video game development studio EA Black Box, creators of the Electronic Arts' skateboarding series, Skate, Skate 2, and Skate It, has been laid off.
Gamasutra reports that almost two-thirds of EA Black Box, which has also worked on NBA STREET Homecourt and most of the games in the Need for Speed series (everything from Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 to Need for Speed Undercover) has lost their jobs, the total number of employees let go being upwards of 200 people.
This news comes the day before Skate 2's release which hits store shelves tomorrow. You can already read GamePro's review of Skate 2, where it was awarded 4 out of 5 stars.

Let's hope this doesn't mean that Black Box will be shut down altogether. I love the Skate and NFS series.

Hard Times has hit alot of people in every industry. Microsoft laying off 20,000 people and other companies doing the same. Hell, I just got the warning of possible layoff myself and I'm the only employee! Lets hope the economy gets better this year.

Hey goldberg_evan, not all of us moderates and/or liberals are fans of President Obama. I'm not a republican, but I sure didn't vote for the democratic candidate. The truth is, Obama hyped the populous up on glorified promises during his campaign. Now, he seems to be back-peddling on his word. Although this is not uncommon for any new president, Obama also did this. So, technically Gen_RAAM is right. In my opinion, you can either be ignorant and STFU, or start being more informed on current politics to make logical arguments.
