OMG RPG has thoroughly explored the new 3.0.8-patched World of Warcraft and emerged with their ten favorite new additions to the universe's biggest MMORPG!
Yesterday World of Warcraft players of the world rejoiced as Patch 3.08 went live. Well most players rejoiced; some Beast Mastery Hunters died a little on the inside, but they have the respec screen to console them and something tells me they will be okay. More than just reading the patch notes, I've spent most of the day with the patch, and am here to provide you with some of the chewy morsels I've gnawed on so far. So sit pack, grab your favorite energy drink, and enjoy the ride.
10. New Shiny Spell Effects
I played my mage most yesterday, and was delighted to notice that a few of my tried and true spells were a little shinier. Blizzard as well as the Warlock spell Rain of Fire now have an added arcane footprint to clarify who will be affected by the spell. It also looks damn cool. I also found that Pyroblast had a new effect, and others were telling me additional spells in the game had their graphics updated.
9. Warlock Summoning Improved - or is it?
I'd love to announce that my Warlock friends no longer have to toil under the weight of a 1001 Soul Shards as they summon a 25 person raid umpteen times, but I can't. At least as of last night, the new version of summoning -- the one allowing a Warlock to summon up to 25 people using only one shard -- is borked. The current incarnation doesn't even go halfway toward improving the situation, as now Warlocks have two wait two minutes between summons. My guess is this particular bug will be hotfixed fast in the near future. Until then, suffer well, my Warlock friends.
8. Slowfall & Levitate Castable
This change is definitely a welcome one, since Shamans have been able to cast Water Walking and Death Knights can allow the party to ride across whole lakes. Priests and Mages now have the same level of party utility, since they can help their friends float down mountains, or drift above the waves with the rest of them. Finally that Paladin won't fall during the Thaddeus fight.
7. Trainable Aquatic Form
I'm surprised that CnC didn't rave about this change more in her post, considering she was the first person I know of to benefire from it. People leveling low-level Druids will now find a welcome surprise at the Trainer when they hit 16. No more traveling hither, thither, and yon collecting pieces of an amulet you don't even get to wear afterward. Of course, the quest is still there should you want to do it. You do want to do the quest, don't you?
6. Arcane Mages Suddenly Overpowered
Long ago in WoW's past, the Arcane Mage was king of the DPS raiding charts. Now they have their supremacy returned to them, as I can attest watching the raid DPS meter last night and seeing our resident Arcane Mage top out above 5k. The elemental Frostfire spec is no longer king of the Mage mountain, and I know I am not the only one looking to respec my mage in the very near future.
5. Shammys get Some Pew Pew
Shamans have now received a 24% bonus to their damage, finally allowing them to actually perform as a damage class. While still not a top producer, an Elemental Shaman can at least tickle a raid boss now, and that has to count for something. I know the Shaman I ran with last night seemed completely pleased with his performance, and so did the damage meter. It's enough to make me want to respec my baby Shaman to Elemental.
4. Mat Reduction for Tailors and Enchanters
I knew this change was coming down the pike, and so I have been stocking up on my Enchanting and Tailoring materials for the day when finally the cost would become a bit more reasonable. So far I only had the time before my raid to make a few bolts of Imbued Frostweave, but already I am loving that it only takes two bolts of Frostweave cloth rather than the previous three. Tomorrow I will start selling my Enchanting services to guildies, knowing that many of the enchants I previously couldn't afford to provide have had their mats lists seriously truncated.
3. Druids Using Polearms
Here's a random one; Druids can now train in the Polearms weapons skills, and polearms are now available with Druid-friendly stats. I have wracked my brain, and yet still can't figure this out. I really didn't think that the Druids among us were someone lesser creatures because they couldn't use polearms. My priest can't use polearms...yet.
2. Racial Mounts Restricted No Longer
For every Tauren that yearned to ride a Battle Chicken, for every Draenei that dreamed of riding a ram, your day has come. The racial restrictions have been lifted on mounts. This seemed a very silly rule, considering there are achievements for collecting as many mounts as possible, and several races had a distinct advantage on the rest of us. Alas, I can only forsee some truly awkward mount/race combos speeding around Dalaran in the near future.
1. Death Knights Rollable on "Any" Server
The first thing I did Tuesday morning when the servers came up was to hop on over to my Horde alt realm and roll my Troll Death Knight. I had intended to just create the character and reserve the name, but two hours later, she was on her way to 57 and I was wondering where time had flown. That happens to me in the DK starting area.
Unfortunately, not all realms seem to be able to benefit from the account flagging, but many realms will allow you to roll a Death Knight as long as you have a level 55 character somewhere on at least one server. It's a beautiful change, allowing low population realms to get some much needed love without the character transfer fee. Personally, I have been dying to play the Horde quests for a while now, but haven't found the time to level yet another character. This will give me, and many, many other DK lovers, the boost I need to jump into Outland and play things from the other side.

#1 is stupid because DKS are now even more overpowered...and not only that but alot of their skills got cooldowns reduced and damage increased...idk how blizzard could do that when pretty much everybody is telling them to NERF the DKs...and wtf my hunter got nerfed -.-, well good list anyway (cept #1)

I know I have been looking forward to the "Create a DK on any server" feature because I am viewing it more as a "Create a new lvl 55 character on any server." There are several servers that I have friends on that I would like to be able to group with, and I'd much rather play from lvl 55 on then to have to start entirely from scratch.

I feel your pain Stevn, I haven't even logged onto my BM hunter since the patch simply because I don't know how to explain to her that her life has changed drastically. It's tough when big events like this happen in your character's lives, and you get angry, and want to blaim someone. But really, it isn't the Death Knight's fault that the Hunter got the shaft, it's their own fault for being so overpowered in PvP and PvE. We all must accept what has happened and help our family of alts cope. Let the healing begin.

Wintergrasp is done for until Blizzard fixes it and what were they thinking with the changes for Locks? The change to summoning not only didn't work as intended but now is completely broken, not to mention that Locks need some other updates to be even competitive. Blizzard tests these patches for a long time before releasing them. I wonder what they are doing with the money they make since none seems to be going to Quality Control.
