Microsoft retorts: ''can't imagine any scenario where the PS3 can catch up with us,'' calls Sony ''out of touch''

Microsoft responds to SCEA Chairman Kazuo Hirai's remarks that there's "no way" the Xbox 360 can sell more consoles than the PS3.
After Sony bashed Microsoft's Xbox 360, calling it something that "lacks longevity" and stating that it's impossible for their competitor to sell more Xbox 360 units than the PlayStation 3 due to Microsoft's tendency to make consoles with short lifespans, Microsoft has now responded.
In response to Sony's criticisms of the Xbox 360, Microsoft calls Sony both "complacent" and "out of touch," while noting that the PS3 would have to first catch up to the Xbox 360 in order to outsell it, something they claim they "can't imagine."
Xbox 360's product management director Aaron Greenberg told The Bitbag, "I can't imagine any scenario where the PS3 can catch up with us."
Greenberg also says that "this sounds like an old hardware company that's comfortable with its market position. That complacent attitude is out of touch with where the industry and consumer is today." Later on in the message to The Bitbag he says "I can't imagine any scenario where the PS3 can catch up with us. In fact, even if you doubled the current PS3 sales and Xbox 360 remained flat, they couldn't close the gap until 2014."

Well he's not lying. The 360 is the best overall system right now. PS3 wont catch up with the corny games. The 360 might have the RROD but the PS3 Just dies on you. Have fun PS3 fans!

Come on, Hirai just said what Microsoft's own people admitted last year. Their people said they'd like to make a console that lasts as long as the PS2 is lasting. They can't be serious if they think the 360 will do that. No way. It uses DVD and that form of optical disc is about done.
Sony will win this war in the end. At least they will if gamers get smart and ignore the media. If the national media has their way Sony will go out of business. That must be a lot of cash Microsoft is throwing around to everyone to get the media to try and kill the PS3. Dirty rotten Microsoft.

So in order for the PS3 to catch up to the 360 Sony would have to double what they sell now, and the 360 has to stay flat. Pretty hard to do, considering that the Xbox out sells the PS3 every month, and the times Sony has beaten it was by very small numbers. No way in hell will the PS3 catch up. And no way will developers make games for the ps3 beyond the normal 5 year life of a console, since the reason why they still make PS2 games is because they have a huge install base. Not because it's Sony. So people tend to think that the PS3 will last 10 years because of the Sony logo on it, as opposed to the 360 which cannot possibly last over 5 years because of genetics or something.

And he said this all without being rude or smug like Sony was when they made this idiotic statement to begin with.
It makes Sony look all the more desperate, or just so overly confident it makes you wonder if they purposely are trying to get people to hate them.

The only way the PS3 will last 10 years is if Microsoft doesn't come out with a new system after 5 years of the 360. If Microsoft does come out with a new system in 2011, the PS3 doesn't have the install base to survive after that.

Sony could never be to blame because they make the most awsome system that everyone wants but the evil microsoft has controlled the Media to say bad things about the PS3 so people won't know the awsomeness that is PS3....STFU and GTFO

i dont agree with the bs sony said yesterday but it gets deeper every day...first Microsoft must continue to put its full support on the 360 and not just discontinue it when there 720 or what ever they call it come out .the reason they stopped support on the xbox was to force owners to get the 360 and it worked so why would they do any different this time??And for those that dont think ps3 can last 10 years just look at the tech specs on the ps3..you havent even started to see what it can do.. remember cell processor powers Super Computers that cost match that os some new cars
