In case it wasn't obvious, Nintendo and Sony have switched places

The writing has been on the wall for quite some time, but cumulative NPD sales make the shift of video game power all the more official.

Via OMG Nintendo -- If the Wii keeps selling the way it is right now, it won't just outsell the PS2 before this hardware cycle is done and over with-- it'll be the best-selling console of all time. The PS3, meanwhile, is... uh... here, Venture Beat did the math:
By comparison, the PS3 sold 6.79 million units in the U.S. during the same initial 26-month period, compared to 6.75 million GameCubes, which finished a distant third last generation and forced Nintendo to rethink how it sold video games. Microsoft, for its part, sold 9.2 million Xbox 360s in the U.S. in its first 26 months, trailing Nintendo in a faraway second by a margin of 2 to 1 — the same position the company held last generation.
Nintendo and Sony have essentially swapped places this generation, with Microsoft spending another season in second. That said, remember Nintendo ultimately turned a profit on the GameCube, while Sony currently sells the PS3 at a loss. The GameCube pushed Nintendo into totally (and profitably) rethinking its approach to games, so with Sony, you have to wonder what the company will do to turn the tide.

That's alright...Sony won't go under, and I enjoy my PS3...I couldn't care less if they are making money or not. I only care if I'm making money.

They are not playing anything moron, its a "retarded ad " for retarded comsumers to show how cool you would look with a wii. Triple O would be the type of guy to have a girl all alone at home and want break out the wii instead of breaking out some condoms.

I asked this yesterday, but since Nintendo made a profit for every gamecube sold from day one, and Sony didn't start making a profit on the PS2 untild the PS3 came out, money wise didn't Nintendo win the last generation. Also considering how well their games sold on the Cube. The PS2 was such a horribly built console, considering that the GameCube was considerably more powerful.
