No FFXIII for U.S. until 2010?!?

Every now and then, I wonder: does Square Enix hate America?
On a completely unrelated note, if you're waiting for Final Fantasy XIII to hit U.S. shores any time soon, get ready for one long wait.
British-based Reuters recently held an interview with Square Enix President Yoichi Wada, where he more or less stated that FFXIII wasn't going to get its American coat of polish and localization finished until freakin' April. Of 2010. Since it was a Reuters article, the rest of the article had the usual stuff about Square's expected millions and BAJILLIONS of expected profits in Dragon Quest IX.
What makes us mad is that Square Enix seems to be pacing the U.S. release of FFXIII for the company revenue calendar, rather than trying to get the game out to hungry fans at a reasonable pace. Not cool.
We're disappointed, but not surprised in the least -- especially considering that the simultaneous launch Square Enix promised in July turned into a PS3-first launch less than a month later. Oh, and don't forget that they're probably going to charge us already cash-strapped American gamers for the demo. WEAK.

My complements to the editor on that Photo. Are we sure he slapped her, instead of something else going on right? I mean look at the expression on her face! Did she forget WHICH acting set she was on? I'd like to put some make up on her face!....ops I mean nice job! err as in work job. Seriously we always get slapped like that by Square, at lease we didn't have to wait so long on last remnant, and infinate undiscovery. And VERY soon, Star ocean! I wonder why the games that where featured on 360 did not take so Looooong to localize.......ops....Did I just start a fantoy mud slinging war?

I am not the most surprised about this news. Square can do what it wants when it wants these days and fans will still buy their games.

what? that was my second comment. I think the gamepro servers are having errors again. Either that or there are filters that apply, if you mention the competition, lol. I will try to not put another sight (spelled incorrect on purpose) again. Anyway repeating myself but. Who didn't see the localization wait, coming? It usually takes 8-14 months for Square to translate do to the size of the games, and especially text, and dialog. At least we have a date now. Speaking of which I wonder how many will wait on a PS3 outside of Japan to get this game now. Also that comment about square a month later switching to a PS3 exclusive in July is not correct. They did reaffirmed it, they did not change it.

I don't know if they are waiting that long just because they want to drag their butts, or if it will legitimately take that long for localization. I haven't played an Final Fantasy game with voice acting, so I do not know if they re render the cut scenes so the lips match what is being said, or if they make it look like a bad dubbing of a Japanese movie. If they re render the cut scenes, that will definitely take a lot of time, along with translating dialog and text, and finding voice actors and then finally recording the dialog. Maybe the delay after the Japanese release is legitimate, maybe it's not. All I know is that no amount of complaining will change their schedule.

Actually, we were referring to the fact that Americans will get the PS3 launch first, rather than the initially announced PS3/x360 dual launch. But you're still right. At least there's a timeframe now. (That Square Enix may/may not meet.)
