Indiana Jones (game) dead?

Rumors are swirling the the all-new PS3/Xbox 360 Indiana Jones adventure won't come to pass.
Should have put the game in the fridge, too...
IGN is reporting that sources at Lucasarts have confirmed that the all-new Indiana Jones title long in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360 has been cancelled. With massive layoffs at Lucasarts back in June, it's no surprise that a few titles had to meet their maker, and the nearly-invisible Indiana Jones title has been the casualty.
While Joystiq has word from Lucasarts that they remain committed from the game, Kombo reveals that the company has been recycling the same company line when it comes to the stagnant title. Originally announced in 2006, Indiana Jones (the final title never materialized) was first developed with a 2007 release in mind. The long-awaited fourth movie was released in 2008, dissapointing fans everywhere. Is there any wonder why the series has went silent? To honor the memory of this title, you can read our (perhaps moot) impressions of the cancelled Indiana Jones game, and our review of Lego Indiana Jones. Thanks Shia LaBeouf. You ruined everything.

Indiana Jones is one of those things that should forever live in the fondest of our memories. Reviving the franchise like the tried to do in 2008 all but ruined the experience for all of us (the same could be said about the Star Wars prequels)....now that I think of it, there is one common denominator in the Indiana Jones and Star Wars "revivals", George Lucas. Coincidence??

LOL. This reminds me of the South Parke episode where Indy was "raped".

I know I am in the minority here but I didn't think the last film was bad. Maybe it is because I knew it would involve aliens before I sat down to watch the midnight showing. Yeah I hate Shia LaBeouf and would probably feel different about the film if he had put on Indy's hat at the end.

I agree with Segaho 182ed--I thought Indy 4 was rad. I don't understand the whole "ugh god, it has aliens and other stuff that is hard to believe" argument. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was just as cheesy and unrealistic. How could a dude pull out another man's still beating heart while not killing him? How could Indy and co. drop out of an f'ing plane, plummeting hundreds of feet, landing on nothing but an inflatable raft?

my god, you people will pick up anything to complain about.
So the movie wasn't what you wanted. What did you want? Indy to shoot Greedo first?
Nayuan01 - What an original thought you just had, I'm sure you're the only one who saw that episode a few months ago, thanks for the reminder because all of our memories are so short. And the movie didn't "ruin it for us all". I'm not one of you. I can spell "Park"
What does it matter if you didn't like the movie? If this was a well-made game and you're complaining about the fact that you didn't like the movie it has no bearing on the GAME. If it was a poorly made game you'd complain that the game was weak because it was based off of a movie. I'd like to see a good Indy game and I enjoy playing good games. Drake's with a fedora would be awesome.
Shut your pie-holes and hold your breath until Watchmen comes out, after all that's going to change the story and ruin the comic "for us all", I'm sure...

God damn it! I was looking forward to a midnight party where I could dress like him again. This game was supposed to be the skit!

I was looking forward to a new adventurous Indy Game with an excellent story. But seeing as how they cannot even get a quality story for the new Indy movie, it seems it would be more difficult to get a quality story from an Indiana Jones game. But at least they could try! I'm thinking combination Uncharted - Grand Theft Auto - Prince of Persia - meets The Godfather.. But no.

OK, you've made an argument for the unrealistic stuff. Now try to make excuses for Harrison Ford's dead, emotionless acting.
