New Halo Wars screens: The Flood, Arbiter, Spartans revealed

As part of GamePro's February 2009 Halo blow-out, we proudly present three new screens of Halo Wars -- including first screens of The Flood, the Arbiter, and Spartan units.

If you're a fan of Halo or the Xbox 360, you already know about GamePro's February 2009 issue, which is devoted to Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST, and the best Xbox 360 games of 2009.

With the Halo Wars demo out on February 5th, and the full game expected on March 3rd, we've decided to show off three new images of Halo Wars. These new images are only a fraction of GamePro's massive 10-page report on the latest build of Halo Wars, but they show off three elusive characters: The Flood, the race of vicious body-snatching aliens; The Arbiter, a vicious new antagonist who leads the Covenant; and the Spartan units, the UNSC's most advanced ground soldier unit.

Witness the Flood! Those gooey structures will pump out more Flood, so you'll want to use a Locust or Cyclops to flatten them first.

The Arbiter is revealed in gameplay performing his new 'Rage' ability. Those dual Energy Swords make the Arbiter one of the most powerful hero classes in the game.

Spartans can perform many of Master Chief's abilities. Here, a Spartan boards a Covenant Wraith, which he can then pilot and use to the UNSC's advantage.

THE VERDICT by Sid Shuman Sid Shuman's Avatar

The game looks better and better every time I see it -- the controls, in particular, have been hugely improved. Will this be the ultimate console RTS? I'm guessing so, but what do you guys think?

I hope that this game is very successful in terms of effectively adapting the RTS formula over to consoles (a feat that has never been truly accomplished before)...even if I'm unable to play it since I don't own a 360. :)

Does anyone else realize how awesome this March will be? Halo Wars on the 3rd, U2's new album No Line on the Horizon on the 3rd, RE 5 on the 13th, Watchmen... well, at this point who knows what with the lawsuits and all, but hopefully it'll be released on the 6th.

Not to mention, spring is the best time of the year.

Kratos91, they are AMAZING. These images are more zoomed in, but from a normal playing perspective, Halo Wars looks stunning.
