No new Xbox because 'faster' and 'prettier' doesn't cut it

Don't look for Microsoft's Xbox "Next" anytime soon, says company President Robbie Bach.

No new Xbox because 'faster' and 'prettier' doesn't cut It

Not coming anytime soon

According to Bloomberg, Bach says Microsoft's planning to stick by the Xbox 360 longer than the original Xbox because "it's getting harder to persuade consumers to upgrade."

What's more, Bach says the current console lineup's outputting groovy enough visuals that it'd take some serious arm-twisting to convince us to upgrade in the near term.

"Just coming up with something that's faster and prettier isn't going to be sufficient," said Bach. "The life cycle for this generation of consoles -- and I'm not just talking about Xbox, I'd include Wii and PS3 as well -- is probably going to be a little longer than previous generations."

Good old MS!, i think with the world economy the way it is it is gonna take time for People to upgrade not only game wise but technological wise

It makes perfect sence to me. The wii is a gamecube , with add-ons and its selling like crazy. Why in the world would Microsoft and Sony (who are leaps and bonds better in terms of tech) want to spend millions to uprgrade. I think this will be the best console generation ever. People will have plenty of time this gen to collect all system or enjoy their favorite one. I just hop Nintendo releases some new ip for older gamers.

Considering that the PS2 still was the most played console last year, I think that it is a great idea to postpone the release of a new console for a few more years. I am more than happy with the current consoles, thank you very much and my wallet agrees and approves it.

November 2011, works for me. Or even 2012. I don't want to see anything for at least 2 years. Keep cranking out the games. Graphics are still looking good, and still impressing. They are still getting better as well, we are at the sweet spot in the X-Box's lifespan, this is where people should be pretty familiar with the box, and should be able to develop great games, they should know the ins and outs, and the tricks. We should see some awesome games the next few years.

Oh thank god. Hopefully, we'll stay in this console generation for 5+ years.

Just like the 360 is an original Xbox with add-ons, and the PS3 is a PS2 with add-ons.

MS has the right idea here, though. Making things look better isn't good enough anymore. To me, it seems like the graphical side of games has hit the plateau with the PS3 and 360. And honestly, they don't really need to get any better. What for? These sytems, except for maybe the Wii, could last for many years still with what they have. I don't include the Wii simply because of its lack of HD output when a lot of people are moving to HD. If they improve and innovate on the software and the programming, these current systems could last very long. I mean, what could a PS4 do that the PS3 can't, except sell well? ;)

Just fine by me. I got a new 360 (old one crapped out and out of warranty) so I'm good for the next 3 years with the RROD warranty. Plus Xbox is right, with the economy in kaput I don't have the money to buy a new console and get all new games as well.
