Hideo Kojima sets his sights on Western development

He's coming

In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, he explains that he's preparing his team to "challenge foreign creators and software houses."

He's become interested in how Western games work and understands that with the way Kojima Productions operates now, they may have trouble in the Western market.

There are people out there who will try to spin this into Kojima selling out, that's he doing it for money and all that, but I don't think that's the case at all. He's made enough fantastic games his way to prove himself - above and beyond that, even - and I think it's fantastic that he's looking to broaden his horizons. I don't think he's doing this so that he sells more games, I think he just wants more people to enjoy his games. The fact that those go hand-in-hand, I think, is irrelevant.

Personally, I can't wait to see what he comes up with. I think his first (or first couple) outing(s) may be a little rough, given that this is new territory, but when he does eventually gain an understanding, we'll get something really special.

Damn right he is doing it for the money, you would be a fool to work for free! If you are good at what you do, might as well get paid for it.

I believe this has been a trend with Japanese publishers. Look at Japan for instance, they have 127 million people while North America has 330 million (420 if you count Mexico) and Europe has 730 million. When you combine North America and Europe, the market is 1.1 billion people. The Japanese are smart and good in business and that is how they are viewing the game market. Just making Japanese gamers happy these days won't cut it anymore.

Sounds like a backhanded "hint" that he will start
developing for the 360 to me.
