GameStop announces holiday Nintendo DS reservations

Surprisingly, the DS Lite may be in higher demand than the already hard-to-find Wii this Christmas, that is if a Friday press release from GameStop is to be believed. To ensure gamers get the handheld with minimum hassle, the retailer announced a new DS reservation program.

GRAPEVINE, Texas (BUSINESS WIRE)--GameStop Corp., the world's largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced a reservation program to assist customers wishing to give the highly sought-after Nintendo DS this holiday season. This program, created by GameStop, specifically focuses on the metallic rose, cobalt/black and crimson/black Nintendo DS systems. Reservations must be made in-person at any GameStop location in the U.S., including those in Puerto Rico and Hawaii.

The reservation process requires payment in full at $129.99 plus tax, with projected delivery between Dec. 28, 2008 and Jan. 15, 2009. Customers will receive a co-branded GameStop and Nintendo DS gift card tin to ensure that special someone has a great gift to open this holiday season.

When the reserved Nintendo DS system arrives, the gift-giver will receive a telephone call indicating that their system is available for pick-up. Nintendo DS systems must be picked up at the store location where the reservation was placed.

THE VERDICT by Blake Snow Blake Snow's Avatar Am I the only one surprised by this. While visiting target earlier this week, they had three Wiis in stock but no DSs. Twilight Zone, people. By the way, how many DSs do you own? I got two: one fer meself, and one for the wiff.

Had a Wii for about two and a half months then grew tired of it. (Thank God Target has a 3-month return policy.) I have had every single Gameboy (and DS) that has been on the market. For consoles I prefer a 360, but for handhelds I'm a Nintendo-aholic

Tried one out but went with the PSP instead. I guess some of the games and the fact that I can DL movies to my memory stick swayed me toward the psp. I kind of regret it now, not that the psp is shody but I just don't have enough spare time to use it.

"Am I the only one surprised by this." requires a question mark at the end, not a period. ;)
