Gears of War sells 3 million in 1 month

Super-hit sequel hits milestone in less than half the time of the first Gears.
Edge Online is reporting that Gears of War 2 has hit the 3 million sold milestone just one month after the game's release. The news was speculated by Microsoft Game Studios' Phil Spencer in a recent podcast, and confirmed by Epic's Mark Rein.
A somber Macus ponders why you still haven't bought his game yet.
Gears of War 2's sales look like they will probably eclipse the original's already stellar sales. Gears 2 hit 3 million within 4 weeks, as opposed to Gears 1, which took ten weeks. The original sold 5 million copies and is currently the second best selling Xbox 360 of all time, according to Wikipedia. The top title? Halo 3, with 8 million, which sold over 3 million copies its first week. Looks like Master Chief and Marcus Fenix are about to engage in a rough battle.
Can't say I'm surprised. Gears 2 improves upon the original in so many ways that it deserves to cut through that game's sales records like a chainsaw through a Locust soldier.

So you're saying that Gears is overrated? The multiplayer is broken but the single player campaign is fun as hell

this game would be incredible if it wasnt for the fuggin tragic online play ... id piss glass to get gears 1s bad online play in gears 2 because even that pathetic exuse for multiplayer was bareble ... funominal campaign tho

Yeah but c'mon. People didn't just run out and purchase this game after playing the entire campaign. They bought it coming off of the first one which I will say, had it's moments in story mode but I've seen better. Much better. :)

Amazing game. Doesnt get much better than this. Hopefully matchmaking will improve later this year. (or early next year)

One of my top 5 games. No one should be talking anything about this game. Better than ANY PS3 game! Multiplayer isnt as bad as everyone thinks. Story kills every games story.

MGS4 blows this game out of the water, i like slow boring games that you sit back and make decisions, then you get to watch a 30 minute video every 5 minutes of gameplay. who the hell wants to play an action packed game with kick ass guns? im down with the slowskies so this game wouldn't work for me. Beside..the graphics are too good especially on a high def tv. it hurts my eyes..

yeah some may have thier opinions about the multiplayer but the fact is. the game is awesome thats why its seling so well.this game moves systems too which i forgot to mention.
