Get your online Street Fighter and UNO on without having a gold account!
Earlier today, Xbox Live Director Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb announced Microsoft's Xbox Live "Friendship is Free" program. Under the program 8 popular Xbox Live Arcade titles-- A Kingdom for Keflings, Aegis Wing, Bomberman Live, Hardwood Hearts, Hardwood Spades, UNO, Small Arms and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix--will be free to play online for Xbox Live Silver members all this month.
Spam n00bs with fireballs for free this month! Happy holidays!
Normally, gamers have to pay $8 a month, $20 for three months, or $50 a year to have access to Xbox Live Gold accounts and unlimited onlinegameplay. Of course, a caveat to this "Friendship is Free" program exists in the fact that you have to pay for most of the games (the Major confirmed this in an email), although Aegis Wing is free. If you want a free copy of "Friendship is Free" headliner A Kingdom of Keflings, you could try to win one via GamePro Arcade's latest contest!

I see the big ballers still crying about paying for LIVE. It comes down to 7 cents a day for a 13 month subscription.

When I get charged 50 bucks a year then have to pay 2 bucks for some f@#%ing pictures, or 12 bucks for a couple maps for my favorite multiplayer gamer or buy a new game only to see that within a month they come out with some new "add ons" that should have been in the game, I expect to get more.
Oh look a 1000 dollar computer, but dont worry its only 3 dollars a day. WOW, just cause u break it down doesn't make it any less expensive. Its 50 bucks for something that should be free.

You don't have get the service if you don't want to or pictures or maps. Its the game developer that is making the money with add ons. I have SC4 for PS3, do you think I was going to pay $5 for Yoda? You got to be f*cking crazy to pay $5 for one character. Its up to you if you want to get xbl. I got a ps3 but I never play online and its free. Then again, I don't use XBL, my son does.

This is nice and all, but let's see it for what it is. It's trying to get new members to the gold service. I'm sure MS thinks their product is so far superior to the PSN that you'd be willing to pay if you tried it and saw first hand how far superior it is. That's nice and all, but of course it's BS in my opinion. 50$ for the ability to play online, and download demos on time, and have the privilege of interacting with the "fine(sarcasm)" xbox live community, and if you want to know what I mean by fine check out 1UP'S feature "ten things that xbox live taught me" and you'll see. So 50$ for something I can do perfectly well on the PSN for free...well, considering that I bought gears of war 2 limited edition on ebay for 44$ in mint condition it's not worth my money, and that's my opinion, if it's worth it to you, then that's you.

cool, that they're including street fighter in the free package, that seems to be the only game worth noting
