Get ready to fight for a Wii this holiday if you happen to be shopping for one at GameStop. Wait, didn't we already write this story?!
Wii shortages during the holiday season are nothing new, having occurred for the past two years, but nevertheless thr trend is expected to continue again this holiday--at least at GameStop.
Speaking to GameIndustry, GameStop CFO David Carlson, said that the retailer expects Wii stock to be completely sold out by Christmas. Not just a shortage, but completely gone dry. Wii Fit and Guitar Hero: World Tour (Wii and Xbox 360 versions) will also experience shortages, he said, although the latter product is no longer selling as robustly as it once did.
"Wii Fit is in very, very short supply. It sells through as quickly as it hits the stores," Carlson said. "And although the Wii hardware is in very good supply right now we believe it may as well be out of stock by the holiday season."
The news directly contradicts comments made earlier by Nintendo of America chief Reggie Fils-Aime. "With Wii hardware, I think we've got a good shot at meeting demand during the holidays," Fils-Aime told Forbes. "With Wii Fit, I know we'll fall short."
If you want a Wii this holiday, or know someone who does, you might want to get them a sleeping bag for the holiday, so they can camp out with the everyone else who wants one too.

I think that Nintendo is making these shortages up to created mored demand for the Wii. I could they still be having shortage problems when the system has been out a few years.

The Nintendo Wii has been out for two years , and to this day I havent even seen one in stock. When it was first released , I pre ordered it . Thats the reason I have one. But , dont you see what nintendo has accomplished ? They have made a console that is so popular , it dosint meet demands . To say that Nintendo is making up thease shortages it completly idiotic. Look at how much it has SOLD . Now , think . Of course they cant make that much , since they dont have as much factories as Microsoft or Sony, because Microsoft and Sony sell OTHER products that arent linked to video gaming. Now , before you go calling me a fanboy , I own a 360,a Wii and a PS3 , and personally , I prefer my ps3, then the 360 . I dislike the wii. It hasint been turned on in month . So I agree with alot of ppl that say its shit , but you have to admit. Its shit that sells

I'm pretty sure that anyone who really wants a Wii has already gotten it. If you are still looking for one though, tough shit to you. Funny how when I found mine at Target, there were 2 other ones on the shelf, and another guy was buying one, so there was plenty left. Plus when I took mine back to return it 3 months later (too kiddish for me.) There was also 2 more on the shelves.

Hmm, doubtful. I just picked one up a few weeks ago inside a Gamestop and there were literally stacks and stacks of Wiis in Oklahoma City; or I just got it before the storm of parents get on it.

You need to stop thinking because you are no good at it.. Selling 2.4 million consoles a month is creating false demand?? You are an idiot..

Sure you did... Sure you did... WHy is always Sony fans that seem to not only be able to find a Wii but all want to say it is too kiddie... Of course you probably play LBP all day ,but games like NMH are just too much huh? No mention of any games from someone who has hated on Wii since the day he came here but we should all believe you guys when you say you bought one... Oh and returning it 3 months later?? Yeah you dont return things that often do you? No store takes an item back 3 months later. Go take a break come up with a story that at least sounds some what legit then come back and claim to be a Wii owner.
