Call of Duty: World at War outselling Modern Warfare 2 to 1

Early retail checks show the latest Call of Duty outselling last year's game by a factor of two... but there's a catch.
"All platform" sales of World at War were double that of Modern Warfare in the first week, according to UK-based Chart-Track. While an accomplishment for Activision, which publishes the franchise, keep in mind that Modern Warfare sold on three fewer systems, shunning Wii, PS2, and DS versions in favor of 360, PS3, and PC versions only. World at War sells on all six platforms.
It should also be known that Call of Duty 4 sales swelled over time, given the games enthralling action and addictive multiplayer. As it stands, Modern Warfare is the best-selling shooter in 2008, according to NPD, despite being released last year.
GamePro awarded Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare with a five-star rating, compared to four and a half stars for Call of Duty World at War.

I'm not too surprised. WaW seemed nearly identical to Modern Warfare, so any kind of success is expected.

Just goes to show that it doesn't matter if it's set in the 1940's or today. If it's done right, the game will be great fun regardless. Now they need a WWI game :)

Yea....... it was on all six systems this time....... if COD4 was on all six it for sure would of beat COD WaW....... not downing this game its not bad for WWII but it still is not as good as COD4.......

I have it for the wii. it sucks 4 didnt come out for the wii. but world at war is awsome
