Handhelds dish out October surprise

Both DS and PSP sell a boat load in a banner month for handhelds that surpasses sales of both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
NPD sales data for the month of October shows strong support for handheld gaming. Nintendo DS was the second best-selling platform right behind Wii and PSP sold better than PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3.
Of course, Wii trounced the competition nearly 2:1 thanks well over 800k in sales. Microsoft couldn't even move half of that with Xbox 360 chiming in at a respectable 370k. Lower sales didn't affect the reception of Xbox 360-exclusive Fable II, though. Peter Molyneux's much anticipated sequel was top of the charts with 790k copies sold.
Fable II charms its way to the top of the October charts.
Charming titles performed extremely well in October, as PlayStation 3-exclusive LittleBigPlanet made a littlebig debut at number 8 on the October charts with a solid 215k copies.
Not a single handheld game made it into the top ten, interesting enough. Phenomenal hardware sales--almost half a million for DS and just shy of 200k for PSP--aren't translating to game sales. That may be a factor of consumer demand for multimedia content and not just gaming alone. Tell us: what do you use your DS and/or PSP for?

You forgot to mention how the PS3 came in last place again for the third month in a row. So much for the year of the PS3.

So it looks like this will be another holiday dominated by the Wii and the 360. And the really good games has just started releasing in the last two weeks so next month we'll see how well Gears 2, Resistance 2 and Fallout 3 do in sales numbers. Once again the holiday season proves it's great to be a gamer.

I used to play my DS a lot @ work... but a few months ago it got really busy and I very rarely play the DS anymore. A few days ago, I was at the shop buying/installing winter tires, so I played Zelda Phantom Hourglass while I waited. Best one hour wait ever! My girlfriend is constantly playing Tetris DS though... she just beat her own record yesterday, she got 410 lines! Crazy!

As an owner of all three systems, I can that the last game I bought on the Wii was Mario Kart for kids and i don't even remember the last game I got on the PS3....Warhawk maybe. Anyone who denies that the 360 is the best for gaming is only kidding themselves.

I got a PSP for my Bday, Madden version. I was thinking about the newer version but then I read a few bad reviews about scan lines and opted to go with the slim version. bought a few games off criagslist for cheap and now go a nice 6 game library in a matter of days. I had put off for along time to get one but I like it. Got some nice features and clean graphics .

Where are the Hardware and software lists? This article is covering up how Sony actually had a disastrous month. Fallout 3 in 3'rd place for the 360 but the PS3 version not even in the top ten? Exclusives like LGB and Socom and PS3 sales drop 18% from last month??
Where is the price drop??

Do you really think they "forgot" that? ... Not bloody likely.
