EA announces Wii Fit knock-off for... well, you know

Let's hope this one's more responsive than Wii Boxing

Do you find there are too few hours in the day to run a household, hold down a job, and fit in a workout? Are you getting bored of the same old fitness routine? If so, then buy EA Sports Active today! Err, I mean next spring, provided the game lives up to its promise...

I'll stop being silly and just spill the details. EA Sports Active was co-developed by Oprah's personal trainer (not that you care), but hey, she's an authoritative bell-cow, no?

The game is specifically designed for women, says EA, and comes bundled with two leg straps to secure a Wii remote and nunchuck to your toned thighs for lower body workouts, and a "resistance band" to support upper body strength exercises. The game costs $60. Specific exercises and Balance Board support were not announced.

"EA Sports Active costs less than a gym membership, provides a variety of exercises unlike a one dimensional in-home fitness contraption, and delivers an interactive experience that you don't get from a DVD," said former Xbox spokesman Peter Moore, now president of EA Sports. "This is a true fitness revolution and a space in which we intend to be leaders."

Hey Toneman, you can't blame that guy for those remarks. Nintendo has this thing called "mind-control" over their consumers. They've been using it since the SNES days.
