7-Eleven a great place to buy big name games early

Shh! Don't let this secret out of the bag: 7-Eleven is an incredible place to buy big games before their street dates.

The video above is clear evidence that the idea of a "street date," or that point in time when a video game publisher demands retailers hold games for their official launch, is not exactly heeded by your local 7-Eleven.

Case in point, last week 7-Eleven was wantonly peddling Gears of War 2 before its official Friday release date. This week it's World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.

Unlike GoW2, however, there's not a world to explore for these fellas just yet, as Blizzard hasn't turned on the new servers for the expansion. They still have bragging rights though, and 7-Eleven could have a flood of new customers whenever the next big budget title hits their store shelves a week before it's supposed to.

I can see the headlines now about the comming legal action.
Activision Blizzard wont let them do that & get away with it.
I give it till the end of the week.

7-Eleven should stick with selling Double Gulps and their very delicious hot dogs.

It doesn't matter, players are locked out of WOTLK server until Tonight at midnight. They could have bought it a month ago and still not be able to play it, unlike the debacle with GOW2, that you can play in your Xbox 360 (just not online).

I think it is a big publicity stunt to increase awareness that they sell games, and it looks like it is working.

Oh and in regards to Activision/Blizzard getting upset, what are they going to do? NOT sell games through 7-11? Please, that would hurt them more than the Slurpee king!! Expect some kind of public apology and everyone moving on. Let's not forget that this game is likely to sell 5 million+ copies on launch day, so what's an extra 200 selling before then?

Oh, I hear they'll have Killzone 2 next week as well as RE5 :-P

It doesn't matter whether or not 7-11 sells video games before their official release, it's just as long as they continue to have fountain machines that'll enable you to create your favorite type of soda (the ones with the syrups), delicious-tasting hot dogs, and even game cards for Neopets, Nexon.net games (i.e., Maple Story), etc., to keep THIS well occupied until the next visit.
