Activision opened the formerly closed World at War beta to the public on Tuesday, available now on Xbox Live.

First released three weeks ago to select Xbox 360 owners, the beta is multiplayer only and more like Call of Duty 4 than one might expect, given the vastly different settings of each game.

It's not a perfect demo, says senior GamePro editor Sid Shuman in his review of the beta, but it's an engrossing freebie nonetheless. Call of Duty: World at War arrives on Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, and PC on Nov. 11.

Good for the people who couldn't get the beta when it was exclusive. Still playing the beta and can't wait for when the game is fully released.

Open to all... except for people with Wii, PS3 and PC. Glad to see there is no PS2 version holding back the Wii this time... hope they squeeze every drop of power from that little white box.

as soon as i saw this i turned on the xbox. i wanted to try it before i bought it because well....its treyarch. its got a way to go before its downloaded. i can't wait to try it out. thanks gamepro!

I just played it and I don't see what the fuss is all about. To me that game is mediocre at best. It really is no different than any other generic war shooter

I LOVE CoD 4 and think its one of the best online FPS out there.

I just hope that Treyarch manages to capture some of the same gameplay

Especially since they stuck with WWII era weapons.

On a positive note the video with all the perks looked bad a$$!

I agree....... I played it last night............ Its just ok..... Definitely not anywhere near as great as COD4........ imo..............
