Amid "isolated" reports of unsatisfied World Tour owners, Activision has released a free PC application to correct drum sensitivity issues.
The application (available here) connects to the drums via a Midi to USB cable and promises to correct any pads requiring an abnormal amount of pressure to register hits. Users without a Midi-USB cord can obtain one free of charge from Activision by filling out this form.
Two days after the release of Guitar Hero: World Tour on all platforms last Sunday, Activision issued a response to what the company called an "isolated" number of drum pads that were not recognizing player hits properly.
GamePro received one drum kit that worked like a charm, and another purchased one where the red snare pad had issues sensing hits. Despite this, we game the game four and a half stars out of five.
TELL US: Did the tuner kit fix your drumming woes? We'll have an update on our experience with the tuner as soon as our Midi-USB cable arrives.

Does this work? How much of a pain is it? I am interested in the drum set for Guitar Hero World Tour but the problems are keeping me from investing. Thoughts?

My green pad seems to take a lot of force to activate, I put in the request and we'll see where this goes. Now my questions is what is up with the guitars?? Mine randomly stops hitting notes (like I'm holding down a note, and halfway through the long note it's like I strummed again but I didn't, annoys the piss out of me).

I did get what seems to be one of the defective drum kits. the red pad seemed to take an unusual amount of force to activate and I had to hit it very much in the center to register and I don't feel comfortable hitting my plastic set of drums like a maniac. The process to order the midi cable was pretty hassle free, so I did, but even with the defective drums it was fun as hell. one this is for sure though, in the higher difficulty levels this problem will not be tolerable.

At first I was worried about picking up the game because I was afraid of a defective drum kit, but I guess I lucked out. I'd say go ahead and get it and supposedly if this problem is as small as Activision says it is, you won't have any trouble either. Even if you do, I'm sure this thing works or they wouldn't even bother with it.

Bought the X-box version of Guitar hero world tour on 12/23/08 my boys big present! Drum cymbals didn't work at all! The guitar skips beats/marks! All right out of the box!
Merry Christmas! "Daddy why would Santa bring us a toy that is broken?"
Now I have to download, wait for and diagnose the problem. B.S.! I will be at gamestop in the morning,
(I'm sure I will not be alone in this after other forums I read 1 with 39 complaints on the same issues today alone all with in a 6 hour time frame.
I will file a complaint with the New York State police, on the premises (Game stop) who knowingly sold the system with defaults, and now is refusing to take the game back!
Class action lawsuit pending there, for sure!
State law (N.Y) says return policy needs to be visable there wasn't one and they will need to go by their statement on their receipt, I believe they will not as I have encountered trouble with these blokes before.
Will inform all of the outcome!
