Atari to publish Chronicles of Riddick sequel

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in spring 2009.
Riddick (aka Vin Diesel) returns to consoles
Previously announced as a remake of the original game, Atari today announced that it had picked up the publishing rights to Assault on Dark Athena, and that developer Starbreeze Studios would be making a proper "full-length" single-player campaign.
Starbreeze developed the first game, in addition to The Darkness released for PS3 and Xbox 360 last year.
"This exciting announcement promises a title which will include the original game re-imagined for a whole new audience, an entirely new chapter in the Riddick saga and, for the first time, intense online multiplayer combat, making The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena a must-have experience for any fan of intense action gaming," Atari said in a statement today.
The first Chronicles of Riddick game, Escape from Butcher Bay, released for Xbox and PC in 2004. It is often considered to be the best video game based on a movie, winning a GamePro "Editor's Choice" award that same year.

It better be good. It has the Xbox original games legacy to live up to.

im sure this will be getting picked up by me.im doubting this is a letdown.the first which was great,so imagine that updated with some extra chapters thrown in and some multiplayer.you cant go wrong.starbreeze is very talented,hopefully the multiplayer is good though and not just tacked on.

Yo Microsoft, you know The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butchers Bay is a good game (I know it is) so do me a favor please; MAKE IT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE FOR THE 360 before CoR: Assault on Dark Athena gets released PLEASE. I bought CoR: Escape from Butchers Bay on its release day and it's one of the few games that I haven't trade in cause it's an awesome game imo but till this day it's still not BC with the 360 but yet Barbie, Sponge Bob, and Scooby Doo is, WTF.

Butcher Bay was severely underrated and was one of my favorite XBOX games. But Atari could equal digital disaster... they don't always do great work.
