Halo 3 still the 'most popular' Xbox 360 game

These are the top 10 'most popular' Xbox 360 games, according to preliminary data found in the New Xbox Experience.
Halo 3 takes the flag for most popular Xbox 360 games, at least in terms of add-on downloads
In addition to improved navigation and streaming movies, the new Xbox 360 menu lets you browse "all games" by popularity, which is ranked "by the most paid downloads in the last 24 hours," a Microsoft representative told me on Wednesday. As of today, the "most popular" Xbox 360 games are as follows, according to the New Xbox Experience:
1. Halo 3
2. Rock Band
3. Rock Band 2
4. Guitar Hero 3
5. Gears of War
6. Gears of War 2
7. Dead Rising
8. Call of Duty 4
9. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
10. Grand Theft Auto IV
Microsoft was quick to mention that the above list is not up to date, but that it will be by launch on November 19. In any case, I can't imagine the updated stats to look much different, at least in terms of download popularity (aka Halo 3 maps, Rock Band songs, etc).

That won't last. Gears 2, which hasn't even been released, is up there.
Come next Feb though with Killzone 2 launching . . .. .. . . .. it won't matter

The data behind that list sucks. I think many gamera play other games just as much, but because they don't have as much down loadable content (if any at all), or the players just don't want to spend additional money on the game...it's not registering on their list. Hello? BIOSHOCK??? Most down loadable content sucks for the price so this is stupid to base popularity on.

I don't see Halo 3 staying up there very long. I'm surprised it's still the most popular game,considering how little it evolved.

halo hate is a strange thing..so much people hate it yet its played so much by so many people still.. lol.

Halo 3 is a superb game without a doubt. In regards to the guy with the comment about Halo 3 not evolved as much...well why evolve when the formula works! It is not necessary and may just be counter productive for the game.All one needs is a tweak here and there and a few add-ons. Btw Killzone 2 is not an XBOX game, but i highly doubt it would be as good as Gears 2 or even Halo for that matter considering how the first one bombed.
