Rock Band 2 ready to rock with PS3, PS2 on October 19

The Wii version, on the other hand, has been given an ambiguous "December 2008" release date.

OK, now we can all rock. (Click for more)

PS3 and Wii owners who have jealously watched their Xbox 360 cousins rock away on Rock Band 2 can rest easy now that we finally have release dates for those consoles too.

That date, at least for the PlayStation brand, is October 19. Wii owners, unfortunately, will have to wait until an unknown date in December before they can get their hands on the next round of rhythm game plastic instruments.

But it's not all bad news for Wii owners today. As we reported earlier, the Wii version of Rock Band 2 could actually rival the graphically superior Xbox 360 and PS3 versions thanks to a complete downloadable store and full online mode, as well as 100 DLC tracks from the first Rock Band.

Here's what is officially launching for ROck Band 2 on October 19:

* Rock Band 2 Special Edition Bundle (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system) $189.99 MSRP
* Rock Band 2 Standalone Software (PlayStation 3 system) $59.99 MSRP
* Rock Band 2 Standalone Drums (PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 systems) $89.99 MSRP
* Rock Band 2 Standalone Guitar (PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 systems) $69.99 MSRP

And later, in December:

* Rock Band 2 Standalone Software (PlayStation 2 system) $49.99 MSRP
* Rock Band 2 Standalone Software (Wii) $49.99 MSRP
* Rock Band 2 Standalone Drums (Wii) $89.99 MSRP
* Rock Band 2 Standalone Guitar (Wii) $69.99 MSRP
* Rock Band 2 Special Edition Bundle (Wii) $189.99 MSRP

I think I'm going to get the PS3 RB2 standalone guitar bundle (that way I can have a full band with the GH:WT complete set bundle).

Ah good old Harmonix, just keep saying screw you to Wii owners. And they wonder why Wii owners prefer Guitar Hero.

PKAguy

unless those 100 tracks from the first Rock Band cost more than a buck, screw it. Even at $1 each that's an extra $100!

go for the drum kit instead it has a steel plate on the pedal this time a very smart move on harmonixs part!!

Man I wish I could get this. But I'm short on money and I only have one game I'm willing to trade in and I'm gonna use that for Resistance 2 so I'll prolly ask for this for Christmas. So many games... So little cash.

I really do not understand why Rock Band would need to release more instruments, the whole Pedal on the drums should have had steel plating in the first place, and the game is basically an Expansion Pack, oh well i guess they need the money!
