Namco Bandai's new Splatterhouse is coming to X360 and PS3 next year, and it's gory as hell.
Here, eat this 2 x 4!
TOKYO - At Namco Bandai's pre-TGS news conference, we got a chance to see a little of the upcoming "Splatterhouse" that's heading to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The game follows college student Rick Taylor in a race through the spooky West Mansion as he tries to rescue his girlfriend, Jennifer, from all-manner of creatures. A mask promises the ability to help him find his girlfriend but also transforms him into "a juggernaut of pure violence and destruction," as Namco Bandai put it.
The company shared a glimpse of the newly-resurrected game through a 10 second trailer that resembled a scene from the horror movie Hostel. The opening shot focused on a cold silver steel table full of bloody torture gear such as knives, ice picks, and a big, fat club. In the background is Jennifer, pleading to be saved. Then it moves on to show Rick fighting his way around the enemies using one of the weapons from the table.
Not much at all to judge the game on, but it doesn't look like it will be one for the faint-hearted. Look for it sometime in 2009.

In related news, a spokesman for the Ginzu knife industry said that he was upset that his product would not be included in Splatterhouse.
"They can cut through shoes," the spokesman said, "so why not use them to cut through flesh and bone? To me, it makes perfect sense, and the revenue we could all bring in would make it worthwhile."
A Namco Bandai spokesman countered that he had tried to cut through a pair of shoes with Ginzu knives and that they had failed in that regard.
"I was pretty drunk at the time," the Namco spokesman admitted. "I mean, why else would I try and cut up my shoes? Even so. They just don't work."

This game better not come out on disc. The graphics so far are unforgivable.

There is more to games than graphics, bonehead. Who cares if it looks like a million bucks if it plays like crap? Smarten up.

It takes more than blood and gore to make a good game... and I do agree that the screenshot is very Wii-rific for a PS3/360 game! I don't think it'll steal any of Resident Evil 5's thunder.
