Third installment of Eidos' first-person RPG goes back to the future in a prequel that brings changes inspired by contemporary shooters.
British magazine PC Zone has revealed the first concrete details on Deus Ex 3 in its 200th anniversary issue this weekend, as reported by site CVG. The much-anticipated third installment of the first-person role-playing series will be be a prequel. Set in the year 2027, you play as security guard Adam Jensen who unwittingly gets caught in the middle of a conspiracy. Working at biotechnology lab puts Jensen in the thick of a bioengineering plot that see him using genetic augmentations to stay alive.
Eidos Montreal, the new developer behind the game, is promising at least 20 genetic enhancements. The article mentions two--"bungee jump" tentacles allowing Jensen to anchor onto walls via tendrils that shoot from his back (creepy!) and super strength giving him the ability to punch through walls (awesome).
Not all is good news, though. The combat system has been reworked to fall more in line with contemporary shooters like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 than attribute-driven role-playing games. Health automatically regenerates and targeting is based entirely on your skill, not on the level of your attributes.
Could Deus Ex 3 resurrect the series or will the attempt to cater to a broader audience keep it in line with its panned predecessor Invisible War? Let us know!

Same here. I was really wanting to try Deus Ex for the PS2, but I figured the PC version would be better. Still haven't tried it.

Try this game. If you like Bioshock. Half Life. System Shock. Games that have amazing story lines, MassEffect, then Dues X is for you

And that's where I stopped caring about this game. Deus Ex is far superior to Halo and Cod4, and yet they're just gonna rip off of those two overrated mainstream BS games. Now I think I've lost all faith in new games and developers. **** that. I don't want Halo in my Deus Ex. There should be more Dues Ex in Halo, not the other way around.
This is bullshit.

from everything in the article it seems like they want this game to be like a better version of that game "The Darkness" cuz in that game you had a tentacle lol, sounds like a copycat though.

I'm just going to say rethink the regenerative heath! Make it a Augmentation but don't make it standard. I don't mind the aiming thing that much because there will still be skill points and whatnot for other things. But the regenerative health needs to be a Aug.
