Anti-video game activist Jack Thompson disbarred in Florida

The dragon is (sorta) dead. Go tell the townspeople.

Jack Thompson can no longer practice law in Florida

Jack Thompson can no longer practice law in Florida

The latest activist faulting video games for the ills of society lost his last 1UP in Florida today, after the state supreme court disbarred him permanently. It seems his frivolous lawsuits and outspoken antics finally caught up with him.

This doesn't mean Thompson can no longer advance his views or act as an "expert" on CNN to hate monger on video games, but the former Florida attorney damaged what little creditability he had left with the disbarment today. He could technically practice law elsewhere, but it will be difficult.

Thompson gained notoriety in recent years, particularly with gamers, for his harsh and critical views towards video games. Before that, he wasn't a big fan of 90s rap music either.

As part of his disbarment, Thompson was ordered to to pay $43,675 in reimbursement fees to the Florida Bar.

In related news, Jack Thompson has announced he is suing the Florida Bar Association. According to the lawsuit, Mr. Thompson claims he was "wrongly removed of my license for trying to point out that the First Amendment was written by some pot-smoking, wig-wearing guys a couple hundred years ago - I mean, seriously, who cares anymore?" and that anyone who wishes to testify against him "should be locked up for shooting pixelated aliens. I know my law, and that's murder. That's what they told me at the University of Phoenix Online."

A spokesman for the Bar refused to comment, only saying, "Seriously, what can I say that hasn't been said already?"

Word from the man on the street was mixed. "Sure, I think he's kind of a jerk," one passerby said, "but without him, there's no humor in my life, so I'm conflicted."

Hmm...he should have kept fighting rap music...rap music does nothing for society. I would have supported him in that endeavor. Leave video games to its passionate few,
