Namco Bandai releases first images and information for its new Tekken 6 upgrade, Bloodline Rebellion.
Tekken 6 is still tearing up arcades in Japan (plus a few lucky arcades in North America). But today, Namco Bandai has announced a sizable new expansion called Bloodline Rebellion at the 46th annual Amusement Machine Show in Tokyo, Japan. The expansion will hit arcades in Japan this December.
New to Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion are two fresh faces: the rebel leader Lars Alexandersson, decked out in almost "dark superhero" fashion, and Alisa Bosconovitch, the cybernetically enhanced daughter of Tekken 3's Dr. Bosconovitch. The two new fighters will bring the total fighter count to 40, giving Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion one of the largest rosters ever created for a fighting game.
Other improvements include four new fighting stages, an enhanced character creation mode that gives more flexibility to hair styles, new collectible items for the characters, new moves and combos, and a host of balance tweaks. Several of the gameplay tweaks are rumored to address perceived imbalances with Tekken 6's controversial "bound" mechanic, which allows players to bounce each other off the floor for bigger juggle combos. Slight revisions to wall juggles and tech rolls may also make it easier for players to avoid being trapped in inescapable juggle combos, one of the flaws most often cited by Tekken 6 players. But we'll label those possible adjustments as "rumor" until we hear more official word from the Tekken 6 team.
Unfortunately, there's still no official word on a release date for Tekken 6 on the PlayStation 3, in any of its forms. We've contacted Namco Bandai representatives to learn more.

Soul Calibur IV is awesome, but really, it's just a distraction while waiting for the real fighting game that is Tekken 6. Can't wait for this one. Love the series, although my favorite was Tekken Tag. I hope they bring that tag element back... The whole game doesn't have to be like Tag, but it would be nice to have the extra Tag mode.
