Free Burnout Paradise bikes upgrade out today

Burnout! Bikes! Free! Why?!

Several months after Burnout Paradise launched, developer Criterion Games has released a free Bike pack that introduces motorcycles to the series for the first time.

"Burnout Paradise is designed to change the way players think about online and offers players a way to keep the game new and fresh even months after launch. Criterion Games is reinventing Burnout Paradise with a ton of new online gameplay, available for free as downloadable updates," read a Criterion press release.

The move is a great addition for fans of the series, but a source at publisher Electronic Arts said this week that the move might be more about GameStop than anything else.

Indeed, the update is fairly full-featured for a freebie, with a new bike license progression; 38 day and night race-the-clock bike events; an active 24-hour internal clock that tracks your day in real-time; and a further 70 collaborative Freeburn mode bike challenges (bringing the game's total up to 420).

But the question remains: Why exude such effort for a game that's been out for months?

So it's up to you then. Is this update enough to keep you from selling Burnout Paradise back to GameStop? Is it enough to make you go out and buy the game for the first time, now that it has reached the greatest hits/classics price of $29.99 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360?

If I sell a game to GS , I have to be really strapped for cash. I usually keep my games , since I never finish all the games I have, I can go back and finish a few more levels. I'd rather sell them to a friend or garage sale. GS never looses out when you sell them your games: they buy for cheap , sell them for a few dollars more and if you take store credit , you are forced to buy something at the store. Take cash and get even less. A give GS a big FU*K YOu!

Why does EA care if they are selling the game back to GameStop and why would anyone sell the game back to GameStop now that it's a Greatest Hit?
GameStop will probably give you like $7 credit.

This upsets me because I just realized my Burnout Paradise disc is cracked. It won't play. =0(

I currently have 7 PS3 games and 10 XBOX360 games. None which i've beaten. I have this bad habit of playing a new game untill another new one comes out. Then i just put that one aside adn start playing the new one, never to touch the previous one until i get bored and want to play it again. I really need to sit down one day and play for a good couple of hours and get rid of some of these games that are taking up space. Then I'll sell them at my sister's pawn shop. Sad to say you can get more for a game at a pawn shop then at GS. Sad, but true.

Yes! I've been waiting for this add-on for a loooong time and so has metalfan. I still find it hard to believe that it's FREE. I mean knowning EA, that would normally charge for this amount of new content, but I find it refreshing to see that EA are considerate for the casual and hardcore gamers out there.

Anyone has it for PS3? I'll be more than happy to play you sometime!

That's hillarious! I was gonna trade in Burnout Paradise for the upcoming Pure game (loved the demo)... but I decided to hold on to Burnout when I saw the free bikes update was available. So yeah, free upgrades = happy customers :)

I still haven't bought Burnout Paradise yet,so this new feature is gonna be part of a fresh new experience for me. Now I really can't wait to own it.
