Report: Google to buy Valve, most likely for Steam UPDATED

In an effort to get in the game, a new report citing "well placed sources" says Google will buy Valve Software "any second now."

Report: Google to buy Valve, most likely for Steam

Team Fortress 3 powered by Google?

UPDATE: A Valve representative told GamePro today that the story "is false."

ORIGINAL STORY: The takeover makes sense, reads The Inquirer scoop, because of Valve's attractive iTunes for PC game download service, Steam. Valve was not immediately available for comment when contacted by GamePro this morning.

Speaking of Google, the Financial Times yesterday estimated that Nintendo makes more profit per employee than the world's largest search and online advertising company. The Redmond-based game-maker made $1.6 million per head, says the Times, due to ludicrous profits and outsourcing, which effectively reduces the total number of employees.

Maybe Nintendo should buy Valve.

buuuzzzz wrong.just corrected today.valve denies rumors.now this just in on gameinformer which is actually up to date on stuff. "The latest batch of sales data is in from Japan's Enterbrain, and it looks as though Microsoft is onto something with those recent price cuts. The Xbox 360 topped the console sales charts for the week of Sept. 8 to the 14th, squeaking past the Wii and blowing past the third-place PlayStation 3."

Here are the numbers, in units sold:
Xbox 360: 28,681
Wii: 27,057
PlayStation 3: 8,050
pretty cool seeing as that ms needs all the help they can get in that country.
