Microsoft: 'More than two or three' Halo games being made

In an interview published on Tuesday, Microsoft Game Studios head Phil Spencer teased upwards of four new Halo games, without delving into specifics.

Microsoft: 'More than two or three' Halo games being made

Whether or not the Chief is involved, many more Halos are incoming

"There are more than two or three teams building Halo games right now," Spencer told GamesIndustry.biz today. "Some of them [Microsoft] will own, some of them we won't."

Spencer's comments lend further creditability to the likelihood of at least four upcoming Halo-related games: the confirmed Halo Wars, an RTS coming early next year to Xbox 360; the elusive but official Peter Jackson Halo game; a still unannounced Bungie game to be published by Microsoft, and a rumored sequel in Halo 4.

Regarding the Peter Jackson game, Kotaku is reporting via "very reliable sources" that erstwhile Metal Gear Solid 4 producer Ryan Payton will be the creative director of the Jackson title.

Incidentally, Microsoft last week posted a job listing seeking a new program manager to work with "Microsoft's new Halo studio."

But whatever the the actual number of games ends up being, it's a safe bet that many more Halo games are on the way, much like Mario has been to Nintendo, given the market appeal of each in video games.

Well, Mario is still fun right? Actually, I don't like Mario... uh... Tony Hawk is still fun right?? Never mind another bad example... Well, at least COD is still fun, as long as they keep improving, I'll keep buying.

And I thought Nintendo was good at " squeezing the last bit of milk out of dead cow" with Mario but I see MS got them beat.

As long as they don't come out all on the 360 it will be ok, but i don't think that would happen.

It takes a whole lot more than Halo to keep gamers' attention. I am looking forward to Halo Wars though, because it seems like it'll be a good RTS. I doubt MS can ever come out with as many rehashes as we had to suffer through with Mario (Thank Heavens). Mario DDR was something that let me know Nintendo doesn't have anything but Mario to fall back on.
