Deja Vu: Microsoft cuts Xbox 360 prices in Europe

Microsoft drastically cut the price of the Xbox 360 line in Europe today for the second time in six months.

Deja Vu: Microsoft cuts Xbox 360 price in Europe--AGAIN

Another one? Sure hope you didn't buy an Xbox 360 last week...

This Friday European customers will receive their second Xbox 360 price cut in the past six months.

Microsoft confirmed the cut via a press release today, which said the price of the base model Xbox 360 Pro will drop to ?169/?239.

The bare bones Arcade model will be ?129/?179, which puts it substantially lower in price than Nintendo's relatively inexpensive Wii console.

The higher end Xbox 360 Elite will retail for ?229/?299.

Checking the release calendar for the Xbox 360 in Europe for the upcoming months, we see that two huge soccer games, FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer, are due out for the system very soon. Combined with the lower prices, it could make for a very interesting holiday for the traditionally pro-Sony European market.

There was no word from Microsoft on further North American price cuts. If you'll remember, the company cut the U.S. Xbox 360 price across the board on September 5.

129?/179? means possibly a price cut to 129 from 179. That is the way I understood it.

I think that the ? = Euro. And one Euro is approximately 1.5 Dollars. So, the arcade is roughly $200, the pro $250, and the Elite $340.

VG Charts show that the PS3 and the Xbox360 have both sold about 6 million units to-date in Europe. The PS3 had a period where is was doubling 360 sales, but in recent weeks they've been about even.
