EA snags ex-Metroid Prime developers for new studio

Noo! Come back! Samus misses you!

The trio of former Retro developers who left that studio (and Nintendo) resurfaced Monday with a new studio and a new partnership with EA.

The developers told Kotaku Monday that the new company is called Armature Studio, and will be based in Retro's hometown of Austin, Texas.

Armature Studio has also signed an exclusive publishing deal with EA to create new games for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.

"EA approached us with this really interesting business model of creating a small studio that is only comprised of industry veterans. The goal is to create new IP with a very, very small team and to produce a game without having to grow that team," said Metroid Prime 3 game director Mark Pacini.

As the news was incredibly fresh, and the packaging still covered Armature Studio's new furniture, there was no word on what kinds of titles the developer would pump out in the future.

Retro is really good. The Metroid Prime games were great. They were designed so well.

Sounds pretty good. Hate to lose them @ Retro, but now they will makes games for all 3... nothing wrong with that.

I wonder if someone with low reading comprehension is now thinking that this means that future Metroid Prime games are now going to come out for the PS3 and the 360. Seriously.
