Sony unaware of any slow PS3 download speeds

Despite ongoing reports of abnormally slow downloads from the PlayStation Store, Sony says the issue is most likely isolated to low bandwidth areas.
Sony suggests that turtle-like PSN downloads are 'based on local download speeds.'
My wireless PS3 speeds have been noticeably slower than my Xbox 360 and Wii ones since day one.
Two weeks ago, it took a frustrating six hours to download WarGames from the PlayStation Store, all while my PC, Powerbook, 360, and Wii enjoyed fast, uninterrupted wireless transfers. This was slower than normal, but I typically suffer less-than-desirable wait times for PS3 demos and system updates as well. (I get 15 mbps down in my area courtesy of Comcast, by the way.)
"I would say PSN is generally slower than other services, especially wireless," says Chris Morell, senior editor and PlayStation liaison at GamePro. "I switched to wired, which is better, but it took me a long time to download the new Ratchet and Clank the other night, despite my ridiculous 32 mbps down."
A quick Google search reveals the same, that several other users have experienced slow PSN downloads, including members of the official PlayStation Forums.
"I haven't noticed this at all," said Patrick Seybold, director of corporate communications for Sony Computer Entertainment, when asked by GamePro about the issue. "I have both [a 360 and Wii] at home and downloads are comparable if not slightly quicker for PS3. Of course, that's just my experience."
To be fair, the emanation doesn't appear to be widespread and seems to only affect PlayStation Store downloads for the most part. (No wired or wireless multiplayer issues have been raised.) But the steady and consistent complaints by users suggest that the PlayStation Store may be under-served (and exacerbated when using the internal PS3 wireless adapter) when compared to other download services.
"Obviously a lot of this is based on local download speeds," concludes Seybold, adding that Sony will begin to look into specific incidents. "Regardless, we are constantly keeping our infrastructure tuned and up to date to ensure that consumers have a great experience."

I have been bellyaching about this from the beginning, I really noticed it after I bought the 360 and the Wii and had something to compare it to. I NEVER use wireless do to problems with online gaming. Out of all my macs, my consoles, the PS3 is the slowest. People have been saying this since day one though, it's really nothing new.

Well that's the kind of customer support Sony gives..... none.... At least the 360's hardware problems are addressed, and if you whine on the phone for a while, you get free stuff!
So you call all the problems with the 360 addressed? Get the f*ck outta here, lol. If they were addressed, they wouldn't have as many problems. They just send you another system destined to go the same route as your first system you were complaining about.
More than likely with it being a complaint, Sony will do something about it. They're not denying it. Just stating they were unaware.
