LucasArts on Wednesday announced that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has set a new record, encouraging more than 2.3 million demo downloads since August.
The (demo) Force is strong with this one
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed isn't even out yet, but LucasArts wants you to know that the game is hot, at least when measured by early anticipation of trial demos downloaded.
Since its release on August 21, the Force Unleashed demo (Xbox 360, PS3 versions only) has been downloaded more than 2.3 million times, according to combined Xbox 360 and PS3 figures. Even bigger news is the fact that the demo broke the one million mark in eight days, which is one day faster than the previous record holder.
Those hoping to play the full game can do so on September 16 when the saga continues on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii (with multiplayer Lightsaber mode), PS2, Nintendo DS, and PSP.

Nice. Game looks excellent. Can't wait till Tuesday. They should've made this into a movie instead of the Clone Wars.

Well I know I'm starved for a Star Wars game, I haven't played a new one since Republic Commando. Except for Lego Star Wars, if you count that one. It's good that they're not in shovelware mode like when Episode I came out, but I need my Star Wars games!!

I've played the demo over and over again.
Greensabre, you gotta admit, Pod Racer (N64) was cool.
I've got the game pre ordered. Come September 16th, I'll be a Sith Master!!!

I have high hopes for this game, but the reviews so far are less than spectacular. EGM kind of trashed it.

Alot of hyped games have been trashed for not living up to expectations. Lair , Kane & Lynch to name a few. I'd rather rent them and decide for myself. Lair was a good game, IMO but not a great game. H3 got great reviews but was an average game imo. How many games have you played that were commerical bombs but you enjoyed playing? K&L, Viking, Conan and Full Auto were some of the games that didn't make the must have list that I enjoyed. KOTOR is hailed as one of the best Star Wars games ever made but there are gamers that think that game sucks wookie ass. I'm picking up Force Unleashed dispite the reviews because I think its a good game and thats all that matters to me.

Wow, 1.3 million downloads is quite an accomplishment. I know, I was one of those gamers that kept keeping the store for it to be uploaded. In terms of the gameplay, well...that's for a different time. haha

I hope this catches more developers' attention and we can have more game demos available on our consoles to try before buying. I guess this could become a reality if TFU sells like hot cakes after release which will lead developers to notice a direct relation between increased demo downloads and greater game sales.
