Are you ready to rock (again)?

Three bundles will be available at launch: the game only ($60) compatible with previous Rock Band instruments, Rock Band 2 standalone wireless guitar ($70), and Rock Band 2 standalone drums ($90).

"Rock Band 2 and Harmonix are raising the bar in the music game category again with an incredible 100-song setlist, innovative online features, and new authentic instruments," said Bob Picunko, vice president of MTV Games. "With over 300 songs available via weekly downloads, no other music game can compete with the Rock Band 2 catalog."

New to Rock Band 2 is backwards compatability and migration of every Rock Band 1 song, online World Tour, daily Battle-Of-The Band tournaments, auto-calibration to eliminate TV lag, wireless drums, velocity sensitive drum pads, support for up to three cymbals (sold separately), improved voice detection, No Fail Mode for newbie players, and a real Drum Trainer. Notable artists featured in the sequel include AC/DC, Guns 'N Roses, Bob Dylan, and Pearl Jam.

GamePro will have the full review of the Xbox 360 version by the end of the week. PlayStation 3, Wii, and PS2 versions will follow later this year upon release (Q4 2008 according to Electronic Arts).

never played Rock Band...i enjoyed Guitar Hero 2 and 3 though...then i started playing a REAL Bass guitar...haven't looked back since.

With Guitar Hero having all the instruments now as well, hopefully the 360 will allow cross-play for RB, RB2 and GH4 so I can finally try Rock Band as well.

im not gonna get this right away... ill wait for christmas to come and decide between this and GH world tour just cuz in WT u can make ur own songs and i think that is amazing but rock band ii alrady hav and so i kno its great and it does hav a bunch of really good songs. so i guess ill just hav to wait it out and see

i'm with rogueagent123, waiting till world tour comes out to decide between the two titles. I find it odd that a totally complete set isn't available at launch according to this article(drum, guitar, microphones).

I am against GH world on tour adding other instruments for one simple reason. I want to buy a game for myself to play guitar only and maybe sing. There is no longer a CHEAP option to buy a game for just myself.
