Sony cancels extended PSP battery to little objection

Sony's discontinuation of the PSP extended battery kit points to low sales of the product, which could be a result of gamers pleased with the default battery power.

PSP owners are showing signs of satisfaction with regards to the handheld's battery life amid discontinuation of the extended battery pack kit.

Sony confirmed late last week that they plan to discontinue the product, although wouldn't go into specific reasons behind the decision. PSP Public Relations Manager Al De Leon told PSPFanboy, "Yes, we are discontinuing this product as we look for other opportunities to service the consumer."

Despite initial criticism from the press on the portable's power, gamers seem to be happy with how their PSP stacks up. Product discontinuations tend to result from a lack of sales, which could very likely be the reason why Sony is pulling the extended battery kit from store.

If you aren't digging the number of hours you get out of your PSP, better head down to the store quick-like to pick up an extended battery pack before they're gone gone gone . . .

my battery died. never touched my psp since. no games I've seen were worth getting a new one.

well i get 7 hrs out of mine(slim model) and I've rarely played my PSP for 7hrs in one day so no it's not an issue at all. That and I'm always in reach of a wall outlet to plug in the AC when I play it anyway so plus I only got it to play Crisis Core & God of War:COO and haven't touched it now since March

Yeah its alot better then the stupid nds battery, or that stupid things use uses AA baterries like the gimmick in the wii. how horrible idea damn nintendo keeps on going down and down stupid nintendo fankids.

Until they come out with the natural fusion battery that has a life of a couple quattuordecillion hours of game play, I won't be content!
