Electronic Arts today confirmed the upcoming release of Godfather 2, which promises open-world action and bird's eye strategy.
"I got your sequel right here..." (screen: The Godfather)
Similar to the first game, Godfather 2 features an original story using characters from the movie, with events unfolding in 1960s Florida, Cuba, and New York.
But rather than resting on its GTA-clone laurels, Electronic Arts is introducing an additional strategy element to the game called "The Don's View," which allows players to oversee the entire world from afar as they grow the family business.
"Running an organized crime family in a world defined by family loyalty is something that we felt could introduce a new strategic element to the genre," said executive producer Hunter Smith. "That is what the 'Don's View' is all about -- it's so unique, it could fundamentally change the rules of open-world games by blending action and strategy to create something entirely new."
The Godfather II is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC next February.

Godfather was (and still is) one of the best games on Wii... best use of motion controls for any game (even 1st party). Can't believe they're not releasing the sequal on Wii... that's a shame.

I actually enjoyed the Godfather game. Especially the Blackhand Edition on Wii. The motions were pretty fun. I had more fun with the Godfather than I did with GTA IV actually. I like the game but I felt like San Andreas was a bit better.

sonyboy69 Posted at: 08/08/08 at 8:12 AM PST no Wii version? not cool. i liked the motion sensing controls 4 the 1st 1. cant remember if i beat it tho b/c i had to return it :(I think they have much bigger graphical plans for this new Godfather. And it that case the Wii always gets left behind. It is a shame the Wii is already becoming an after thought of developers of major titles. Nothing but spam and the hopes of good 1st party Nintendo titles for the Wii, unfortunately nothing is left. Just give us another Zelda.

JUst look at their very small list of exclusives compared to Wii and 360. Oh and stop acting stupid. We all know that no console gets every game. There are plenty not even coming to the PS3 but are the Wii, never hear one complaint from you about it though
