Sega feels your pain, promises better Sonic quality

Sega "recognizes" that mistakes have been made when developing Sonic games in the past, but all that will change with the upcoming release of Sonic Unleashed, says the company's head of marketing.

Will Sonic regain his early 90s mojo?

Will Sonic regain his early 90s mojo?

"Some of that criticism is probably warranted," said Sega's Sean Ratcliffe, in an interview with GameDaily, when asked about the poor quality of recent Sonic games. "We recognize it, which is why you're seeing us this year taking the first steps in making sure the quality is right."

He added, "This time around, with Sonic Unleashed, we got a great new engine that allows us to truly deliver the Sonic experience as it arguably should have been on next-gen. For fans of Sonic that have been looking for a next-gen experience, this is the game they've been waiting for."

Since debuting in 1991 on Sega Genesis, Sonic the Hedgehog has been plagued with checkered past. With exception to select portable and compilation games, very few sequels have been well-received by either critics or fans.

The newest game in the series, Sonic Unleashed, arrives on Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, and PS2 this November.

Why won't they let poor Sonic die, why do they make him spin so really really fast in its grave? They should just re-vamp graphics on the old Sonic games and re-release them as downloadable if they just want to cash in on nostalgia. I mean do they actually think they have an alternative to Mario? Once you start apologizing for Sonic's misadventures, you begin to sound like an abusive alcoholic boyfriend: "this time, I promise, I'll be better . . . baby . . . just, buy one more game, for old time's sake. . . we was good once"

The last Sonic game had maybe two bright points,up against more than a hundred bad ones. I been a fan of Sonic since his 1st game, but the last Sonic game I got excited about was Sonic CD,which was actually the last good Sonic. Sega, you better get this one right dammit, you owe us Sonic fans a whole lot after the trash you shoved our way over the past years.

this sonic looks good. why? SPEED SPEED AND MORE SPEED. if it makes you feel like your going a jillion (thats right, a jillion) miles per hour, its good.
