Halo team has 'a lot to learn' from Call of Duty 4, Bungie says

Bungie's lead AI programmer not only loves the Call of Duty series, he thinks his team has a lot to learn from its success as well.

Bungie lead AI programmer Damian Isla admires rival Xbox Live game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and said he thinks his team has a lot to learn from the game in terms of scripted events and playability.
"We have a lot to learn from their success too, they did some very innovative things to keep people going and their experience-rewards system was something that we paid a lot of attention to," he said.
He continued, saying he thought the single-player aspect of CoD 4 was "fantastic."
"They did a hell of a job with their set pieces, of scripting certain moments that they were really sure the player was going to actually see and experience first hand. The way that they use those moments to craft the player experience...Halo has a lot to learn from," he said.
He candidly admitted that future Bungie efforts would involve more scripting to fully immerse the player in its Spartan environments.
There are no console wars among developers, it seems, but it helps if the the studios in question are responsible for two of the most popular games of 2007-2008. Don't know how I feel about more "scripted events," however. I want to play the game, not have it play me.

CoD 4 is one of my all time favorite games. I'd even say i enjoy it better than the halos.

Anyone who says Halo sucks should quit playing games then. I love CoD4 but it really is over rated it was good but what the hell was inovative about it. It didn't introduce anything new and it was super short at that. I bought the game and liked it but I didn't feel I got my moneys worth for it.

CoD 4: better graphics, no lag, better gameplay, perks, more realistic. Halo 3: Same bullshit as 1 and 2...nothing fun. it only went 480p

It says a lot about a developer who has a critically acclaimed game give props to a rival for having the same success. It says alot about the developers character. Too bad their fans can't do the same.
