Gears of War 2 to have optional violence, profanity filter

Sqeamish? Mom not like your violent video games? Then the new Gears of War 2 violence and profanity filter is right up your alley.

Hehehe! It tickles!

Hehehe! It tickles!

A report in MCV Tuesday revealed that gamers will have a violence and profanity filter at their disposal in the upcoming Gears of War 2.

Instead of blood and swears, squeamish players will see sparks and less harsh language, or "mild curses," the U.K. report said.

The game has already been given an 'M' rating by the ESRB, and the filter is seen as an attempt to "placate concerned parents by giving them an option to substitute blood for sparks and remove all bad language," MCV said.

G4 has the decency kitty as their filter... you guys have pretty flowers, not quite as funny but it does cover all the great action nicely.

Parents really need to get a clue and actually read the box before buying games for their kids... if a little "M" written in black on a white background is on the box with some explanation from the ESRB, you parents should not be buying that game for your kids, buy it for yourself and keep it from your kids if you want to protect them from blood, gore, sex, and 4-letter words.

This is silly... lol a filter with flowers... kids aren't even going to use this... not to mention anyone else besides to laugh at it...

I don't think this is a bad thing. I love Gears and the violence, but hey, it doesn't hurt to give this option. Most gears players (if not all) wont ever use it, but if there is a sticker on the box that says it is an option, some 13 year old may be able to play it.

I wish there was the option of taking Dom out. I hate that character so much. He actually says " hell yes" in the first one who the hell says "hell yes". He's super lame.
