Source: Xbox 360 price drop to $199, $299 in September

A reputable source and self-proclaimed Xbox insider says a second wave of 360 price cuts will arrive in time for the holidays.

A second Xbox 360 price drop this fall seems likely

According to an anonymous "mole" close to Ars Technica (with a reliable track record, by the way), Microsoft will reduce the price of Xbox 360 models in early September.

Provided the source makes good on his claims again, the Arcade model (no hard drive) will drop from $279 to an attractive $199. The Pro model (60GB) will revert from $349 to the current clearance price of $299, while the Elite model (120GB) will drop from $449 to $399.

Microsoft was not immediately available for comment when contacted by GamePro on Friday.

Nice. Maybe if gets cheap enough, I won't even hassle with Refurbished ones from the warranty and just get a new one that would work better.

Now the 360 is going to be the cheapest console on the market. This and the release of Gears of War 2 and Fable 2 should really boost the 360's sales.

Looking into getting another 360. 60GB version is looking good for $299. Can't see myself paying a extra $100 for 120GB. Thats just to outrageous!
