Capcom bringing two-year old Dead Rising to Wii

First released on Xbox 360 in 2006, Capcom has announced it will rerelease Dead Rising on Wii with motion controls and a new subtitle, Chop Till You Drop.

"Based on the critically acclaimed Dead Rising, which has sold in excess of one million units since its release in 2006, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is scheduled to hit store shelves this Winter," Capcom said in a statement today.

"Taking advantage of the same proven technology that brought Resident Evil 4 so successfully to Wii, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop delivers a more immersive, intuitive, and interactive experience as players use the Wii Remote to shoot, slash and bludgeon their way through a zombie infested shopping mall, fighting for survival."

As those who played the Xbox 360 original already know, Dead Rising follows the tale of Frank West, a freelance photo journalist hunting down "the scoop of a lifetime" at the local mall.

The Wii port with its fancy new subtitle uses the Resident Evil 4 graphics engine, Wii Remote aiming (obviously), a weaponizable environment, and seemingly fewer on-screen zombies when compared to the Xbox 360 version.

THE VERDICT by Blake Snow Blake Snow's Avatar It's a shame Wii owners won't be getting a scaled down 360 engine. Resident Evil 4 is soooo last-generation.

Loved this game for the 360, don't think I'll be picking it up for my Wii though. God, my Wii just keeps collecting more and more dust. Maybe I should finally sell it.

Man this DUDE BLAKE SNOW ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING NEGATIVE TO SAY BOUT NINTENDO AND THEIR PRODUCTS. IF IT WAS PORTED TO PS2 HE'D... OMG.. ps2 owners GET THAT PORT BEFORE ITS GONE.

Kubrick

It has a bonus feature that allows you to read in game text on the screen without a 52" HDTV.

I think Dead Rising will be decent on the Wii. There will be definite changes between the Wii and Xbox360 but I think the changes will make sense for the Wii's control setup and are expected. Don't prejudge the game until credible reviews or previews come out.
