Wipeout HD denied E3 showing by 'technical issues'; release date uncertain

Wipeout HD was a playable title at last year's Tokyo Game Show, so its absence at this week's E3 was a bit of a surprise.

On Friday, Sony officially addressed the no-show title, as reps said developers of the game were having trouble fixing some "technical issues." Those issues have now delayed the PlayStation Network title indefinitely.

"There is a specific technical problem with Wipeout that we have to solve," said Sony Europe president and CEO David Reeves during an interview with Eurogamer. "I can't go into details but it is a really, really tricky technical problem that no region has been able to solve at the moment."

With the delay, Wipeout HD has been pushed back to the "end of the year," Reeves said, although even that time frame was called into question.

"I think it will come out before the end of the year but it is something that was just very difficult to get to grips with," Reeves said.

Yeah, I was wondering where this demo was. Wipeout has always been that good Sony game that keeps getting better and better. It just has a great gaming dynamic to it and is a sure-shot, just like a Zelda game is to Nintendo. [p] I do hope we see a new level or some gameplay in the coming months, should be a great DL game, nonetheless. [p] V_O_R

tech issue? oh, i know......it wasnt on the 360.....thats the true power of the cell....getting a real good game delayed with no release date.......fuckers!

From what I heard... Dealayed = people pulled from the game to finish others...

...which, coincidently resulted in the canning of 8 days and that England GTA game.

Yeah, I ws looking forward to the summer release of Wipeout HD, all I can say is, "Next!"
